Something has leaked.

Perhaps.

But because I'm the pessimistic type (or at best, cautiously optimistic), this might just be because THT announced his commitment date shortly after an Illinois visit, and people are assessing that he did so because he's going to Illinois.

I hope that's the case. More likely, in my view, he saw what he needed to see, and has all the information he needs to make his final decision. Either Illinois blew him away and he's ready to commit to us, or the visit confirmed in his mind that Iowa State is still his best option and is ready to make it official.

As an armchair player evaluator who's only seen highlight videos, I can see why guys like him. His overall game and size/length give him some nice tools, and he seems to have good hands and an inside-out game. Should have a lot to work with, especially with some physical development. I see 247 composite has him ranked a bit ahead of Castleton and Valtonen, as does RSCI summer rankings (98 vs unranked/unranked). He'd be a good get.

Yes, for a guy like me with no info, this is how I feel, too.
Not sure why announcing a date after your last visit indicates anything more than the fact that you now know enough to make a decision.
But maybe the guys putting up crystal balls have info that I don't. As indicated, I have none.
Sure hope they have some.

My take on THT is that he was always an Illini lean and that whatever happened with the MIF and the Irvins caused him to look at other options that did not involve playing with Ayo. Apparently things have been smoothed over and he is going with his heart and coming to Illinois.

I'm hearing that THT is going to commit which is going to prompt Ayo to decommit, Mark Smith and Trent Frazier to transfer, and Brad Underwood to quit and join the priesthood.

What's left of our program will be absorbed by Mizzou.
