Yup. And obviously Anthony Davis went from like 6'3 to 6'10 in a year at 16-17.

It's possible but also so unusual that it's completely unrealistic to think it will happen in a given case. On the other hand, as long as we're wildly speculating, a 6'10 THT is probably a one and done...

You could also make the case then that The whole point of college nowadays is self promotion and showcasing/bettering yourself for the pros.

You could....but the winning matters a LOT more there. No one remembers the last few Peach Jam champions lol.

Evan Daniels is 31/32 on his CB predictions.

Yep.

I'm still telling myself that THT is not coming here. But dang.....it's tough to ignore the momentum on our side when guys like Meyer and Daniels are picking Illinois.

Cautiously optimistic. Cautiously.....

I'm very much in this camp. Is it Thursday yet?

Even if Nolley suddenly decides to come now, he will have to warm the bench for 2 years as our current squad stands.

Smith/Ayo/TJL/Trent/Knipper/THT/Damonte will all be firmly ahead of him on the depth chart for backcourt for 2 years.

Optimistically, all those guys will be ahead of him, but you always have to be prepared for injuries, transfers, and hopefully, guys going pro. At 6-7 and Underwood playing positionless basketball, that opens up even more possibilities for PT. That said, ain't gonna happen as he wants to stay home.

I always had trouble deciding who I preferred between Nolley and THT.

My fear with Nolley was that I always got a diva vibe. I think he wants to have fun and dance and score, my fear was does he have any interest in playing defense.

Nolley is a bit taller and shoots a bit better which are big on his side, but I think THT is the all around better player because of all the skills he brings to the table.

There was a time when a lot of people here were hyping Valtonen as our best option. The way I saw it then was this (and I still believe it now):

#1. THT -- his all-around game separates him from the pack. It's great to have a pure shooter, but players like THT are rare. He's a mini Draymond Green.

#2. Nolley -- great shooter and athlete. Better shooter than THT, but lacks that all-around game.

#3. Valtonen

Great thing with THT is you know he is well coached at the HS level. Coach Smith has always been a big supporter of the Illini, I know for a fact he wanted Derrick Rose in Orange and Blue.

I felt dumber having listened to Werner’s podcast.
I’m not sure who is with him, but talk about insight! (Sarcasm)

Irresponsible reporting, at worst, wasted time at best.

5 minutes of nothingness conjecture.

I think a 5th year big next year isn't awful, but probably unnecessary. Same for 2019. Grad transfers are becoming bigger and bigger in the NCAA, but they are definitely not the answer.

Indeed, this is really encouraging and bodes well for the future, far beyond Ayo & THT.

Just keep in mind, Prince sips the Kool-Aid hard. Don't get me wrong, the quotes from Ayo's dad are encouraging, but he's always going to say the right thing to a reporter.
