Future Walk-On

Watch the announcement get cancelled.
Don't disagree, but if a Simeon kid also plays for MIF, it gets pretty convoluted.

Might as well kiss any Simeon kid goodbye. If I'm Robert Smith, I have no interest in doing anything with brad Underwood at all.

Would seem Underwood is just trying to do his job of getting the best players he can. And tbh, name me one Simeon difference maker that has come to Illinois under the Robert Smith tenure. Kendrick Nunn? And I am well aware of the history of Simeon players to Illinois. None of that has come to fruition in recent times though.
Or maybe the Irvins had literally nothing to do with this and the 2 kids just decided they didn't really want to play together. And THT has had his mind set on ISU/ Xavier for a few days and people are just now getting wind of it... aka nothing changed.
Quit making up stories and just assuming its facts.
Yep. If you show two bridges and say one has to be blown up, which one are you going to blow up?
People want us to own Chicago. Well, unfortunately this kind of thing happens. Ayo is a better player and the Irvins have a better pipeline at the moment. Easy decision (assuming what we are being told is true)
For the wing recruit. I think from day one we should just take Tim Finke. I just feel bad that in his hardest time we turned to other choices and may have to turn to him when other choices are burned.
A local kid who's a 6'6 wing and in or bordering top 100. We lose focus on him just because of a bad summer. Pathetic.
if this is all true....I really hope that THT blows up beyond belief and force our staff to eternally regret.
I don't know about all this...
Underwood says he won't beg players to come here, but he lets recruits dictate who we can accept commitments from? That's something I'm not proud of. Sadly, playing this type of recruiting game is probably the difference between winning in college basketball and being like we have been since Bill Self left. I don't feel good about the program going this route - I'm not proud of that. Especially if Underwood told THT he can't accept his commitment today. Don't string the poor kid along like that!
Hopefully this is a one-time thing. I don't like the idea of Underwood bending the knee to any AAU coach. I don't care who plays on the AAU coach's team.
I'm starting to believe that "owning Chicago" is like owning swamp land.

How does Chin not get this settled?
We don't need THT AND WE NEVER DID but we really really want Ayo. We also made a decision to get into bed with the Mac Fire. It may end up being the bed that helps us land mags talent. Underwood is at least playing the game for real. Much respect to Underwood for not being a sissy and taking the best player. Let's see how the Mac Fire relationship goes from here
