We should all step back from the ledge, obviously THT is a pretty darn good player and it would of been nice to have him. However, this is BIG boy recruiting now. Sure rather go through all this BS than be chatting about Groce landing Jaylon Tate. As long as we can hang on to Ayo, other 4/5 Star studs will follow suit. Ayo is obviously very tight with the Irvins, keep them all happy and the pipeline will keep flowing.
This is freakin' ridiculous. "keep them happy"...for the pipeline? No thank you ...

Ayo ppl said you gotta pick and we picked him.

This is it. It's not the Irvins controlling BU. They gave him a choice. BU chose Ayo. And in my opinion, that was the better choice.

EDIT: Just reread this, and the wording is a little creepy. But I will keep the original wording for all to behold.

Not ridiculous. Every college team has to deal with the politics of AAU ball. It's part of the business and Underwood knows it.

How does Chin not get this settled?

Did what he could. Not a miracle worker. Those around Ayo seem to have taken a hard stance. Welcome to Chicago politics, I mean recruiting.

Without facts it seems that is case, disappointing if this is true. Hard to say with all the nonsubstained info, but Ayo did come 1st, but he shouldn`t have say in who follows. BU can`t comment on this, but sounds like his voice being heard thru his media mouthpieces. You would have thought this would have already been resolved, but seems it is not.

I actually have no problem with players not wanting to play together. I expect that. The issue is not saying that day 1 and stringing a kid along.

wtf ... if I were Whitman I'd be pissed.

And that's why you're not Whitman.

Sucks when it doesn't work out, but I bet they did everything possible to get everyone on the same page. Sounds like they were really close, too.

Chicago recruiting is what it's always been....a crapshoot full of testosterone and ego's...

Definitely agree with Underwood having the choice. Disagree on what was the better choice.

Look at it this way...Person X gives you $1,000,000.00, and says that he has a good chance of being able to get you another $1,000,000.00 over the next couple years. Awesome!

Then Person Y if going to give you $800,000.00, and also says that he has a good chance of getting you another $1,000,000.00 over the next couple years. Fantastic!!

However, before you get the money from Person Y, Person X says, "If you take the $800,000.00 from Person Y, I get my $1,000,000.00 back."

Which one would you choose?

I'm gonna repost this. I think it pretty much perfectly illustrates why I think that he made the right choice. Obviously people are free to disagree.

Never a dull moment on the worldwide net!!!!

So, to play along, why would BU host THT if BU already was given a choice and BU made that choice the week before? There was no need to host THT at all. It would have been far better than host THT and then inform THT that he has no spot.

But then who knows how this world rotates.

Might as well kiss any Simeon kid goodbye. If I'm Robert Smith, I have no interest in doing anything with brad Underwood at all.

Wasn’t there an Irvin tweet that went out recently saying something to the effect of “lyou’re either all in or you’re not”?

most likely true, but Whitney and Miller are the 2 on the list for 19 and 20 and they have nothing to do with Simeon, but they sure to the Fire and MP

Winning heals all wounds. Hopefully, talented kids will eventually want to come to Illinois no matter what their coaches think.

You think you can always make it work.

I hate to say it but this is right. If we dont "play the game" we will never be able to consistently land chicago talent. Now if this move backfires and we do not land chicago talent in the future, well, thats a different story.

Because, if you believe the rumors, the ultimatum wasn't made until after the visit.

This is a very complicated case, bombay. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old IllinoisLoyalty's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.
