UNLV 89, Illinois 82 POSTGAME

Finke needs to run to the corners more. His threes at the top of the arc not falling

he needs to run to the corner and keep running off to the bench more, Sorry but he is a 6-10 guy who doesn't know he is 6-10 and plays like he is 6-1

well I think your wrong about Spicy G, he should be getting about that many mins every game, and should of been from the start, Finke cant guard the water cooler so Greg has nothing to get better against in practice so to get better he needs to play some mins. Besides the fact Finke does nothing when things matter

The problem with Spicy G is that the offense is very hard to run with him. He doesn't have the ball skills that Finke and Black have, so he can't do anything in the high-post or in the true post.

Finke actually did a decent job tonight. Most of McCoy's points came from UNLV guards getting into the paint, which made it very tough on Finke. And we won the rebounding battle. McCoy is going to get 20/10 against almost everyone.

This is spot on and has been in his whole entire tenure. Some guys just have spots on the floor they are much better at and this is on. Not to your point, but dogging Finke that he plays like 6'1" is just a bit off. He is not a defensive presence, but he does rebound solidly.

Keep cutting down on fouls and turnovers, and this team can stack wins in conference. I expect BU can get it done.

amazing that we won rebounding battle against this team...unfortunately we won the foul battle too (in a bad way)

I really feel like we have the look of a team that will put it together late. Just hope there’s still enough time in the season when that happens to rack up wins.

Expectations really hinder on the severity of Leron’s injury and his availability.

Young guys showed up for this one.. Frazier, Damonte, Smith

Excited for what this team will become. Need our older guys to step up and make some plays if we’re ever gonna beat a decent team this year. Alstork was nonexistent tonight

Just be clicking at time of Big Ten tournament and win it. Just build and build till that point and hope for a huge tournament. That is best case scenario

I fell asleep at half, just woke up and checked the box score. 36 fouls, is that a new league record?

Proud as hell of these guys

Seriously, watchable game to the end,, I LOVE this team, they are so getting their shiat together, they never give up and it is obvious BU knows wtf he is doing. Love this team!

We seemed to run more of the offense tonight and got some good looks at the rim. WAY too many missed bunnies (burps?) or put backs that cost us probably 8 points or more. Travel non-call, VERY weak call on DMW - really hard to watch some games with the refs sometimes in early season play.

Starting to see the team get more comfortable with the offense.

Our NCAA tournament hopes are becoming more and more fragile, and it essentially sets the Mizzou game up for a must-win (unless we go like 12-6 in B1G play).

That said, you have to really like what the future holds. Gotta love the grit and heart, but really, really need to keep the fouling under control. Reckless aggression doesn't help.

This. They will be good. I love MS, TF and DW.

Nice to see a positive spin here. Get so sick of coming in to all of the negative trash after a loss.

Amazing what this team can do when their backs are against the WHISTLE !

come on.....we fought, battle and sparred with a superior team and won some ground and lost some ground...it was exciting to see the spunk of the Illini, on the road with the ft discrepancy and outrebouinded a more physical UNLV team....

another game that could have went our way, but didn't...the Illini are battlers and I see a fire in this team that hasn't been the norm for awhile....

BU said ,at least 5-6 times in the post game radio presser that how frustrated he is with the team fouling and how hard it is to break them of that...said they had refs at practice, etc...

growing pains ....

Our freshmen are good, but our bigs are exactly what we thought they would be before the season started. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. This will not be adjusted until we have some roster additions.

Exactly, this is in no way, shape or form a tourney team without more roster additions. Let's get them on board soon.

No surprise at all, I love the no quit and the guards are gonna be great

Boy the refs make it tough to watch a game these days. It seems like we make to many lower the shoulder offensive fouls every game. We also seem to get the Ticky tack fouls called against us at the rim but we don't get those same calls.

This team makes a ton of mistakes lot of stupid fouls last night especially as Underwood said the 8 in the back court but they compete and play hard every night and the freshman show some potential. This year unfortunately is probably not going to be a NCAA Tourney year. It is a year to learn Underwood's system, compete hard every night which hopefully upsets some people at home, excite the fan base and get the arrow pointing up for the future. A real key for Underwood will be to recruit at least one big that can give significant minutes immediately. It is going to continue to be hard to compete at the top of the Big 10 without some quality bigs

Taped the game but won’t get to watch until tonight. Did we do any better about not getting driven by and giving up backdoor cuts like I mentioned very early in the thread? I saw they shot 33 more free throws and was wondering if that was more us having breakdowns or more of the host team referees getting the home game cooking. I realize it could be a combo of both but was curious what you guys thought. Thanks in advance

Both, we get no benefit of any calls pretty much the entire game, but also do a lot of stupid fouling.

I think I saw someone earlier said probably 10 fouls were garbage calls, but even the 26 legit ones were way too high.

actually really good harassment of mccoy when he caught it low and we won rebounding battle. BUT we fouled a ton. I cant imagine a better defensive effort though... aside from giving them over 40 free throws which BU admitted needs to be solved.

BU mentioned a hyperextended elbow for leron? Anyone want to play internet doctor and guess what kind of recovery time this means?

Also did anyone see what happened? Did he fall?
