So is this late push comparable to last year? Obviously it isn't over yet, but I know a lot of people felt that we needed to close like last year in order to keep up the appearance in regards to recruiting.
This isn't a perfect comparison, because I'm not sure if there is ranking inflation from 247/Rivals/ESPN, but this class should be on par, or slightly better, than last year's class:
2017 Recruiting Class
Cumulative Points: 185.24* (Actually is 183.92 after removing Lawson, who never made it to campus).
Total Recruits: 27* (26)
National Ranking: 46* (49)
2018 Recruiting Class
Cumulative Points: 158.79* (If Illinois adds Verdis Brown, Reuben Unije, and Dayven Coleman, jumps up to 179.99)
Total Recruits 16* (Last I heard, Illinois is planning on finishing this class around 24)
National Ranking: 62* (Would jump to 39 with above-mentioned commits)
Another potential boost would be if/when 247 provides a ranking for Kerby Joseph. Wouldn't be a big boost, but a nudge regardless. TLR version: If Illinois is able to get Brown, Unije, and Coleman, it is very likely this class will be slightly better than last year's. Comfortably better if they also get Craddeith.
