Ayodele Adeoye? That would be the only highly rated recruit that is somewhat tied to Brown that is possible that I can think of. He also had a rather cryptic tweet last week.

I would love to think he's still in play since he visited campus so many times and appears to be close to a number of our recruits. We also can offer immediate playing time

Brown and Unije, with or without Adeoye, would make me very happy, however. That's probably what Brown is referring to in that tweet.

Well that's who I think he was talking about, Those 3 I thought the same about the tweet last week. Made me think he had already changed his mind and was just waiting to say where he was going to end up. Again could very well be just wishful thinking but we will find out soon enough

Now that Verdis Brown and Reuben Unije look to be future O&B, like the IMG pipeline that we are building. Would be nice to have several yearly commits from them ongoing.

I am generally an optimist, but isn't this a bit premature? Is there anything but the twitter deciphering on this board that indicates that Brown and Unije are coming here?

From what I've gathered, these are the top names that Illinois is battling for to finish the class (might be missing a few)

In order of ranked on 247:

Verdis Brown (OL or DL)
Dallas Craddieth (S)
Reuben Unije (OT)
Dayven Coleman (S or LB)
Cadarius Gaskin (WR)
Drake Anderson (RB)
Fa'Najae Gotay (LB)
Zach Peterson (DE)

Where do they stack in terms of similarity to currently committed guys?

Lets say, better than our current average, near our current average, and below our current overage?

Verdis through Drake would rank (in exact order) after the top two recruits.

In this "best-case scenario", Illinois would have ranked ~39th best recruiting class when looking at 2017 results. For an example, would have put them on the same plane as Wisconsin's recruiting class.

IF the duo of Unije and Brown commits to Illinois, our class immediately jumps from 13th in the B1G to 10th. That's some solid momentum IF it happens. :illinois:

I'm hearing Iowa is out (just got a DE recruit and strung him along with a preferred walk-on offer until he exploded). Still will visit Kansas State. Came away from Iowa State without committing even after they offered him a scholarship when they had been stringing him along with a preferred walk-on offer. His dad was an all BIG 12 d-lineman at Iowa State. Feeling from my source is that it will come down to Illinois and Iowa State. Lovie offering him first and coming to visit him at home and at school meant a lot.

Would love to know the last time Illinois got a commit from an Iowa kid with offers from both state schools.

I think they will decide that in spring, he will play one side K Green the other, So either way it works out well for both sides of the ball
