It may have had as much to do with the defense we played against him, but Tilmon did not look even remotely like he’ll be ready for the NBA anytime soon.

There's no way he's ready for the NBA. He has a long way to go.

Even statistically -- 9 points and 5 boards a game isn't going to turn any heads.

At this rate, he's a 3 year guy. If he jumps pro after this year, his best move is to invest in some Uzbek language lessons.

I think Tilmon would have been the difference in some of those games we lost, he has skills and size. I actually feel bad for him that he chose Mizzou, he would have been such a bigger factor at Illinois.

Definitely. BU would be getting Tilmon 5x more post touches. Inexcusable from Cuonzo that Tilmon almost never gets the ball down there. But I'm not complaining.:thumb:

Uh, let's be honest. The last 5 minutes of this game was dribble and give it to Trent Frazier.

That’s how many teams run offense late in close games. This is a “team”. They get contributions from everyone on defense and will get help from many sources as the season goes on. It’s obvious Missouri decided Jordan wouldn’t get an open look. Someone else needed to step up and they did.

“Underwood seems like a real dick. He’s smart enough to stay a step ahead of the NCAA. He’s no Bruce Weber.”

OMG please don’t stop hahaha.

I'll take a coach who comes off as "dickish" and wins. Dickishness is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure we all have our opinions of "other" coaches.

Mizzou fans saying that their guards don't know how to make entry passes. If that's the case, it should have given Tilmon pause. Should have gone somewhere with great guard play, Jeremiah.

That's not sour grapes. That's genuine confusion.

there was a bit of two man game going on with Black... now think... wouldn't that be the smart thing down the stretch?

Smith made a reverse layup at 3:30. Black made a 3 at 4:43. With 3:20 to go Illinois had a 9 point lead. They were running a very deliberate offense killing time and starting the offense with 10 sec on the shot clock. Frazier was initiating the offense but his shots were in the context of the offense, not isolation one on one with no particular play. I see that as a difference.

Great win, fantastic first half, lackadaisical start in the second half. Trent was great, his lateral quickness differentiates him. Leron really fought hard and was under control, had one of the best games of is career. Frontcourt is still a problem, especially in the post. Leron tallied 37 mins and Finke 34... too much to expect for an entire B1G season, but BU needed to keep them in the game, limited options. Mark Smith had some great moments, but seems a lot more comfortable as a SG than a PG.

Harris is talented, had a good second half, but was constantly mouthing, acted like a punk and deservingly got the technical. Tilmon has great hands, needs to improve his footwork and post game. Definitely not going pro (unless other reasons), he will be at Mizzou another 1-2 years. Jordan Barnett really kept them in the game, without him they can't even make a run in the second half.

Michael Porter Jr. seemed like a nice kid, good demeanor, well spoken. Best of luck to him in his pro career, but he is not coming back. He did the right thing to fix his back for the long term and he seems focused on his future.

We obviously need major help in the frontcourt but with the addition of Ayo, we are really nicely set at PG/SG positions for the future.

Revisionist history. Almost all of Groce's late game scenarios ended with a pick n roll. Most of the late shot clock scenarios tonight were pick n rolls for Trent.

Leron continues to impress me with the shots that he can make. He makes a lot of tough shots and often without any iron at all. But a pass out of the paint sure is rare. Saw one tonight.

AJ was guarded super tight. They obviously committed to keeping the ball from getting to him.

As someone said, Finke was solid. Played well. Don't miss the bun.

Alstork kind of amazes me. We thought we were getting 18 points, we got a lock down defender. What the heck?

Domonte a little quiet tonight.

Frazier. Frazier Frazier !!

Yeah, Leron Black (Hole)... It gets frustrating watching him shoot almost every time he gets the ball, except when it goes in.

On one of the last 2 or 3 possessions of the game, he got a key offensive rebound on a Frazier missed layup, and tried to go back up with it. Thankfully he got blocked and the ball went right back to him, because after that, he kicked it out to waste more clock. Should've done that in the first place, but his mindset is always SHOOT/SCORE.

Frazier > Lucas

Sure he is and that is evident....but Lucas does has some really good parts of his game that are valuable to this team. Shooting 3s and free throws in the clutch are two of the most visible, if not THE most visible, stages a player can stand upon. Neither is a strength of TJL's game at this point....not that it has to be a weakness forever but a ton of hard work and mental effort is needed. Frazier is better at both at this time.

But both kids really bring their lunch pails to work at the defensive end and look to their teammates with confidence. They are desperately needed talents lacking in the program for several years. I, for one, embrace their talents, enthusiasm, attitude, and hard work and am glad they wear the orange and blue. That one is better than the other is irrelevant in the long run. They are both needed to play, both make mistakes, and are improving with every game. I did like that BU put Lucas on the bench in the last minute of this game as he does not need to shoot critical free throws at this point. He improved his technique and showed it to me a couple of games ago. Tonight, he took a step back and did not bring the ball to a starting point and did not keep his weight on the balls of his feet. He was not too far off, but the misses said it all and he did not need to shoot more of them. I think, due to seeing his improvement, that he will become dependable, but does not need to shatter his confidence at this time, especially if it would cost a critical win.

Anyway, I love both of these kids and to see the team with Smith and Williams is really fun to watch. This team should be a load next year, especially if BU can find some dependable and talented help inside.

You have the same level of confidence with Ray Rice or Malcolm going one on one as the way the offense is being run this year? I do not recall many "plays" for Malcolm. It was give him the ball and see if he can do it.
