Illinois 70, Missouri 64 POSTGAME

Frazier > Lucas

This is Frazier team now....sorry TeJon, he even sees it though. BU loves Frazier, and it shows, and he should...love watching the kid! He does have some Dee Brown in him for sure!

Recruit kid, Recruit....play well and they will come!:chief:

As I said in previous post a lot more Frazier and less TJL especially at the end of the game.

Let's be honest, if we had to pick one game to win this year, this was it. I hope it's the beginning of a great run. But if this ends up being a "transition year", we still have this game.

Absolutely right. For those of us from the Metro East or southern Illinois area, this game is HUGE.

And considering the storyline with Cuonzo and Tilmon......man, this is the most special Braggin Rights win I can remember since breaking the skid in 2000.

Well they tried to blow it. Finally due to win one. I guess a 20 or lead at half is hard to blow.

Man I wanted to keep that first half juju going and crush them, but a win is a win, is a win. Trent Frazier is cold-blooded.

In tough games like that, the holes in our roster get exposed. We need more length and athleticism in the wing, and size down low. Regardless, this program, with this coaching staff, is trending up.

Completely agree. With the roster we have need to fill those holes. Tejon needs to hit foul shots, reduce fouls, be a shot making threat. Alstork needs to be more aggressive and look for his shot as he cuts toward basket.

Curious what the +/- with Tejon, Smith, and Alstork vs Demonte, Jordan, and Frazier. The 2nd line-up seems to have more tools from defense, shooting, dribbling, pasding, rebounding.

This team finally gets a taste of a big win. Great ball pressure all night but Illinois was fortunate that Mizzou missed several open looks. Hopefully now we get more Frazier and AJ and less TJL and Alstork. I like Alstork’s rebounding and defense but he gives it away on the other end. And TJL needs to be shooting before AJ gets to the gym in the morning. Frazier, Black and Smith will take this team as far as it can go. Would like to include AJ in that equation but BU won’t give him enough minutes for some reason.

I actually like to see the Frazier/Alstork combo, lets face it...Alstork is not offensively all that was advertised, but is FAR and away so much better defensively than we could have hoped for...Frazier was advertised as an offensive player, but not nearly as much as Smith, and even possibly rated below Williams...

Let them play together and do their thing, Alstork can be the defensive guard presence and Frazier can continue to roll with the offense sets. BU knows what he has and AYO/Frazier combo with Williams/Smith backing up will be something to watch!

You said it. I didn't realize just how much I HATED Mizzou until these past nine months. Most satisfying BR win ever for me.

YES!!!!!!

I was too nervous to even watch the game. Got it queued up on DVR, though.

Man, Christmas is always sweeter with a win in this game. But this year? This is as sweet as it's been in a long, long time.

Dude. To nervous to even watch? The fun of this is being nervous and watching. This is supposed to be fun. I don't think you're doing it right

Fully expected the game to tighten up after half. That's just the way it goes, and the refs helped that along a bit around the 15 min mark of 2H.

But really, we just need to make free throws -especially the front end of one and ones. Would have made this one all fun instead of late game angst. But Trent's two at the end were huge. Great win all the same.

There is nothing better than beating MIZ-NOZ for Christmas!

That being said, the best part of this win is that it salvages a glimmer of hope for March. We need a run, but not out of the question if we play like we did in the 1st half.

Oh, I've been given the choice by the wife: control your emotions during the Illinois-Missouri game, or DVR it and watch it later.

There's no way I can keep my emotions in check for this game. Any of the other 30+ games? Sure. Not this one.

Mizzou next years loses 2-3 key seniors and Porter. Possibly Tilmon, but Illinois loses only Alstork but gains Ayo. Be great to land a solid grad transfer big.

Underwood should use this game to illustrate the power of the big halftime lead. Hopefully the players will better understand now why it's so hard to win when you come out flat.
