Merry Christmas! Tevian Jones would be a great player for us. On par with Nolley IMHO and much more upside than THT. Very good size, smooth shot, A++ athleticism.
Looks to be a very good rebounder as well.
We don't have a player on the roster with his speed and size who can finish at the rim. Best comparison from Illinois hoops would be Cory Magette during Fenwick years. Ability to coast down the court and dunk or use a jumper is Pippin-esque. Kid is aggressive.
I don't know if it's too early to start talking about the class of 2034, but this point guard prospect out of Chicago is starting to generate some buzz. Word has it he has a 1" vertical and already hates Missouri.

And Merry Christmas back to you along with all other Illinois Loyalty members, Illini fans, Coach BU, staff, and players! Yes, TJ would be a great pre-2018 Christmas gift, he's looking really good:

This is the most absurd statement I've seen on this board

He doesn't shoot or pass as well as THT, and from the tiny amount I've seen doesn't defend as well. What is absurd about it? I look at tools and not rankings, and I believe Tev Jones upside is greater than THT. For those games where athleticism is a premium (UNLV, Mizzou) you need these type of players. So I will take this 6-6 player who flies down the court, has good form on his jumper, and likely has a 38 inch plus vertical.
Maybe, but we want basketball players. I'll take the guy closer to a finished project as opposed to the guy you hope you can build. Rarely does that build pan out.Easier to turn an athlete into a basketball player than a basketball player into an athlete.

How many scholarships for 2018 do we have? Three? So Ayo, Flo, and Tevian? Gotta admit that is a nice three.
If we oversign (by one), we can take 3. And, yes, Thamba & Jones would be VG late adds. I suspect we'd oversign in this case, w/o much (or any?) hand wringing. Long way to go before that materializes though.
Think Liddell had a heckuva showcase, courtesy of Leron, in the BR game. Can only help, right?
