That PG prospect looks like he could stand to go on a 6,000 calorie per day diet, but Ulis was undersized, too, and he turned out ok.

Merry Christmas! Tevian Jones would be a great player for us. On par with Nolley IMHO and much more upside than THT. Very good size, smooth shot, A++ athleticism.
Looks to be a very good rebounder as well.

We don't have a player on the roster with his speed and size who can finish at the rim. Best comparison from Illinois hoops would be Cory Magette during Fenwick years. Ability to coast down the court and dunk or use a jumper is Pippin-esque. Kid is aggressive.

And Merry Christmas back to you along with all other Illinois Loyalty members, Illini fans, Coach BU, staff, and players! Yes, TJ would be a great pre-2018 Christmas gift, he's looking really good:

I don't know if it's too early to start talking about the class of 2034, but this point guard prospect out of Chicago is starting to generate some buzz. Word has it he has a 1" vertical and already hates Missouri.

We just picked up a crystal ball from a Chicago based insider “delfpz”

Cute kid, don't like his style of play though...another guard who holds the ball and stagnates the offense. Seems like an Akron kind of baller to me...I kid, I kid! Merry Christmas to all.:chief:

This is the most absurd statement I've seen on this board

It's an absurd statement, yes. I think THT is going to be a tremendous player.

More absurd than "anybody who wouldn't rather have Castleton or Conditt than Ayo is crazy"? No, sir. THAT is the most absurd statement I've seen on this board. :thumb:

What is absurd about it? I look at tools and not rankings, and I believe Tev Jones upside is greater than THT. For those games where athleticism is a premium (UNLV, Mizzou) you need these type of players. So I will take this 6-6 player who flies down the court, has good form on his jumper, and likely has a 38 inch plus vertical.

He doesn't shoot or pass as well as THT, and from the tiny amount I've seen doesn't defend as well.

He's a much better athlete, but don't think he gets to the hoop any better than THT. He has a lot of potential because of the athleticism and he'd be a good pickup at this point in the game be but he is not really close to as good as THT and Nolley.

Easier to turn an athlete into a basketball player than a basketball player into an athlete.

Maybe, but we want basketball players. I'll take the guy closer to a finished project as opposed to the guy you hope you can build. Rarely does that build pan out.

TJones is not a raw project, he played on the Nike EBYL with Bol Bol (#1 player) and S. O'Neil (Shaq son, top #30 player). He was one of their top players on a loaded team. THT does have good hands and is physically stronger than competition. What happens when the players get bigger and faster next year? I see THT in the Sergio mold, which isn't a knock. Sergio was a good/solid player but with a lower ceiling.

I'm confident that TJones will add muscle/size to his frame. I also have no doubt he can hit the 3 and attack the rim at the next level. Watch his tape. Don't know what is in between his ears, but yes most top tier hs players lack the defensive intensity. I've followed Illinois/Chicago hoops a long time. What are the IHSA names that jump out who have TJones size, speed, athleticism, and jump shot?

Wait til Fletch gets ahold of him! Bet he puts on 100 lbs of muscle, no joke!

How many scholarships for 2018 do we have? Three? So Ayo, Flo, and Tevian? Gotta admit that is a nice three.

Great chance to see Francis Okoro live or via stream. Normal West opens the 53rd Annual Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament on Wednesday at 9 AM against a hot Bartonville Limestone team.

Okoro will play 4 games in 3 days with 2 on Thursday and a single game on Friday. If you can’t make it to Pekin you can watch live stream via NFHS Network for a $9.95 subscription. This will allow you live access to all 4 Okoro games as well as other tournament games.

You want a guy closer to his ceiling as a freshman? Both are 4 year players. What separates them after 4 years of development and skill sets even out?

I love tht for our spread. His versatility is made for an offense like ours that’s puts lots of different guys in lots of different spots. We’ve also been underathletic for years now. Look how much a dose of Trent Frazier’s athleticism has excited us. Now imagine that on the wing, the block, the pinch post etc. skilled players are hard to guard, so are athletes. Athletic, skilled players=impossible.

If we oversign (by one), we can take 3. And, yes, Thamba & Jones would be VG late adds. I suspect we'd oversign in this case, w/o much (or any?) hand wringing. Long way to go before that materializes though.

Think Liddell had a heckuva showcase, courtesy of Leron, in the BR game. Can only help, right?
