Trice's Wabash Valley team was eliminated last night in the Great Rivers tourney....would be nice to see him on campus for a non game visit....has anyone heard when he plans to announce where he's going????

I think I saw somewhere on here he’s announcing on his grandpas birthday, April 11th

Class of 5/6? Who else transferring? Like Walker as the other. If Lucas leaves it is a class of one. Matic would be my choice as the transfer but just not Black.

Read Tupper's column and he spells it out completely. It was on twitter earlier this morning. Mark Tupper @MarkTupper

Kind of weird to be at that game I would guess. Apparently Underwood was there to see Trice and so was Dee Brown and Bruce Weber. That's a lot of Illini flavor pulling in different directions.

Apr 11th is over a month away for Trice's decision. Great that BU was at his game last night, shows a lot of ongoing interest; yet with lots of recruiting wheels turning, there may not be a slot open for him then, we'll see.

The NBA draft declaration deadline is April 22, 2018. One would think Leron and Illinois will know by April 11, 2018 whether he is going to declare or not. So, if Leron stays, perhaps no Trice. If Leron goes, perhaps Trice.

Black isn't going to be drafted, so that deadline is meaningless.

Why would Trice come here if Black stays? It makes no sense from his standpoint either.

They are not similar players at all. Trice is an undersized, athletic 5, Black should be a 4. They would play together.

If that's the plan, its a bad plan. I highly doubt they are selling Trice on being our 5 next year and playing major minutes next to Black. That makes no sense.

Black will not get drafted but he may declare without an agent. It allows the player to get free advice and evaluation from teams and GMs and many players do it every year. Obviously, he will withdraw after that. Whether he comes back to Illinois or not is everyone's guess.

You know you're right. There really isn't room on one team for two rebounders.

Biting!

This.

[pure speculation]If Black can secure a reasonably good contract (with a Euro club), he's gone. Obviously, reasonably good is subjective. Also, he'd almost surely would have to have an agent to do a contract, but I'm pretty sure that can be back channeled (nudge, nudge).

Oh, if he's still around, he almost certainly will declare. It would be very short-sighted not to.

Anyone else thing as much as Trice has been here and that Underwood has visited that we're just waiting to see if Leron goes before we accept his commitment? Trice is not going to be able to guard 7'1" guys in the Big Ten. That's a half a foot difference. That's like putting a 6' guard on a 6'6" wing. It'll be the same thing as this year, him picking up bad fouls because there's literally no way to guard that height difference down low.

If Trice is a 6'7" center, he's going to have a really short career and I'm not sure why we would have any interest.

The idea that Trice would be sitting when Black is in is wrong. Just to be clear, he could be sitting, but those guys aren't mutually exclusive.

+1

The counter argument being made is ridiculous. Trice is clearly earmarked as Leron's replacement and its hard to see why he would have any interest coming here if Leron is still here next year because he would sit on the bench.

We're not playing two 6'7" guys next to each other all year for heavy minutes. That's stupid.

Are Trice's growth plates fluid? Wait....

Meh... there are no other options. Mo Bamba is not walking through the door anytime soon, neither do you have any other viable options. We played Finke (who is more of an outside player than Black) for most of the year, and we played Kipper and Black for very long stretches this year as well. The premise that a 6'10" or 7-footer ready and better than Trice emerges anytime soon holds no water.

Bob Zuppke says Illinois fans should be at Ubben Saturday at 10. Time to show that Ayo & THT love to this weekend's visitors
