Mid Tennessee showing they belong in big boy tourney by spanking Vermont. Yeah it’s only Vermont but if committee did eye test rather than use Quad 1 BS , this team would be in. Just 2 years ago they ousted Sparty. Do they really think Syracuse, Bama, Texas etc are better? What a joke!!

Bonnie's close out UCLA, 65-58, to advance to Dallas and play Florida. Outscored the bruins 20 to 7 I believe down the stretch

Man Holiday single handed ruined that game for UCLA. Too bad for FBW

Can someone plays explain to me how he NCAA makes two potential #11 seeds play each other n a play in game?

If I head correctly - I haven't lookd at a bracket - the winner is a #11 seed. So if the loser had the potential to be a #11 seed as well, doesn't that imply both teams are better than the #12-16 seeds?

Shouldn't the play in game be the last two #16 seeds?

No - because most of the #13-16 seeds are automatic bids from smaller conferences.

What I've heard it's that there are two play in games between the worst auto bid teams and two more games from the worst at Large bids. There were complaints that the auto bid teams weren't getting the full experience when all of the play insv were 16 seeds

Ok, second post answers question if the play in game still considered an automatic bid, even though you don't technically make the field of 64. Apparently the play in game does count.

Response makes sense. Not sure I 100% agree with reasoning, but I see why they did it.

Maybe time to get rid of play in game? Let the UCLA's and St. Bonaventures of the world, this year's examples, go right to the NIT.

I would argue that they should just stop inviting more than 64 teams. If that means that 4 11 seeds don't make the tournament, so be it. But they keep forgetting to ask me

And the foul that started it was him pushing off, and the Bonnies getting the foul.

But yeah, that was quite an implosion on his part.

Trust me, the UCLAs and St. Bonnies of the world would rather play in the First Four in Dayton and have a chance to move on than go right to the NIT. It's still considered an NCAA tourney bid. In a few years, the field will expand more and there will be more than 8 teams in the first round.

I have no problem with the last four at large teams in having to play in the first four. It helps bring in better tv ratings than to have the bottom 8 auto qualifiers play on TBS.

Would any Illini fan be upset if we had to play in the First Four this year? I wouldn't. I'd be glad we got in.
