Purdue Texas tech is a hard fought, first team to 50 wins, sort of a game. Kind of hard to watch, honestly

Purdue always seems to disappoint in the tournament
I don't think I could make that statement, with Haas out with a broken elbow. He is a huge part of their season and they missed him a lot.

very cool....247 showed J Carter ranked as 299 in his class of '14. Hard to fathom #299 recruit pushing a #2 recruit like Brunson. Cool that Huggins sees through rankings. Proud of both of these Illinois preps!Interesting read about Carter & Brunson from junior high to current day...

yes...he's from the Bruce Weber tree and is starting to have regular B10 success.is Matt Painter a good coach though?

Slightly off topic, but what do Purdue fans think of Painter? He was on the hot seat a few years ago but stayed partly due to the large buy-out IIRC. He's turned it around and had good but underwhelming teams the past couple years. Got upset in the first round 2 years ago, got destroyed by KU in the sweet 16 last year. And this year they have size, experience, shooting, stud PG, depth, and still no B1G championship and only reach the sweet 16. They have to be frustrated, right?
I only saw part of Clemson game, but Elijah Thomas looked lazy. Not impressed, has lost weight though. I did not see, what did he get Flagrant 1 foul for?
Frustrated? Sure. But probably like how Villanova fans were frustrated with Jay Wright prior to 2016. Wright was a serial tournament choker, but now? He's a legend.
Painter's position is secure. PU fans can say "sure, we didn't get the tourney results we wanted, but we'll take S16 appearances and 25+ win seasons and top-20 rankings each and every year".
Wright did have a Final Four appearance in 2010 I believe. That had to buy some time before the 2016 breakthrough.
I agree. I would think 25 win seasons and Sweet Sixteen appearances should make a fan base happy. Sure it would be frustrating to never get past (Xavier as another example) but, you have to get there first to be able to break through. Gonzaga finally getting through last year after a long stretch of successful seasons as another example. Very few teams get multiple Final Fours over a period of time. We of all people should know to savor them when they come. But also enjoy the seasons that fall a little short. Our 2004 season that ended on that Friday night against Duke was pretty enjoyable also. Especially compared to last 10 years or so.
