I was there too. One thing I was impressed with from El General was that he constantly had his head up looking around to see how he could distribute to or who was sneaking up on him.
Could it could be argued that Painter's system; which he learned from Gene Keady, does not necessarily give them all the skills needed to succeed in the NBA? Going back to Keady, PU has always done a nice job of developing college centers, especially the muscular, non-athletic, limited skill set banger types. They have also done quite well during the regular season, with relatively marginal talent, but have not had much postseason success. Not that there's anything terribly wrong with that.
This entire argument is pointless. However, 100% right. Like the poster who said that Purdue has had bigs develop and outside shot... Really? I mean Really? Purdue does not stretch the bigs and does not force them to by outside players and I didn't think it was just us jerk ILL fans that thought it was because Painter's offense was developed in 1914. Now do they have success with bigs that sit in the lane and get rebounds, sure do. However that is not the way to the NBA for Okoro. Therefore, I can see why Oregon would be and I can see why we could be a good fit. I think if he re-classifies he has a good chance of playing 3 years in college and that makes Oregon a good fit but I still dont think it is a better fit than here... but I love ILL... so.
The fact that visits to PU and Oregon makes our chances on Okoro bleaker. The information from the source from Normal would only me things more likely our chances seem slimmer.
I know we have been active in his recruitment but sometimes you need to read things for what they realistically indicate. Him reclassifying makes his visits to both campus indicates he has other plans rather than us. Time to move on.
....and guys like Frazier and Ayo to get you the ball isn't? B1G > Pac 10
Sure sounds like Feliz may be the player we need currently, more than Ramey. It would be a coup to get Ramey of course, but with a big freshman class, new system, etc, Feliz sounds like someone we have to have, not someone we all would drool over to have.
Been playing with grown men all his life and good in the locker room. We are going to need that for sure!

Swanigan might improve eventually, but I am not sure I'd point to these guys if I were PU. I fact, I am not sure who I would point to other than Carl Landry. Brian Cardinal?
Improve eventually? At Purdue?
While at Purdue Swanigan’s 3P% went from 29% in year 1 to 45% in year 2. By definition, that is improving your outside shot.
First mention of a possibility or a questioning of Ebo returning? Matic yes, Ebo, this is the first I have seen.
Ramey is a better prospect than Feliz by all accounts and no amount of message board rationalizing will change that. He also provides the additional benefits of pulling in the biggest name from St.Louis and depriving a key rival of a very important piece which we'll be matching up against for several years. That said, how long they are willing to slow play Feliz, if at all, depends on just how bad they feel they need another lead guard in the short term. Most do not feel they are as desperate for a PG as they were when Groce seemingly tried to have his cake and eat it with Brunson and Evans.
Wednesday would probably be ideal because signing period starts then which is all the longer they could reasonably be expected to wait.

On "...perception boost..the recruit we need to feel much more confident in the program.."Feliz might result in more wins in year 1 but getting a player like Ramey would be a huge perception boost and help us get our frontcourt targets. I'd take Feliz if he wants to commit but Ramey is the recruit we need to help us feel much more confident about the future of the program. I wouldn't hate it if the staff waited to see what Ramey decides. It all depends on how much weight we're putting into next season.

Ramey is scheduled to release a new top 9 on Monday.
