Yep. I'm not calling for Antigua to get fired. But I was certainly hoping for more. But the sample size is small. Let's see where it goes from here.

I'm not going to apologize for having high expectations

24/7 sometimes lists the lead recruiter for prospects. Checking the 2017 and 2018 incoming classes, not many of Illinois' players list a lead recruiter.

Antigua was listed as lead recruiter for Higgs and Feliz.

Chin for Samba and Tevian.

Those are the only ones that had recruiters listed. You can assume Chin for Ayo and Ebo as well, I would think. And probably Alan Griffin.

Possibly Antigua for Giorgi? Vesel?

Walker had the ties to Mark Smith.

Damonte? Trent?

Sounds like Chin is our lead recruiter with O and Walker behind him.

This was the first recruiting class that they had at Illinois, and getting in on seniors is getting in late. This next class should be a better one to judge as they have had time to get to know more players and get a better idea on the type of player Underwood wants.

Pretty sure Griffin was an Antigua guy given his NYC ties.

This is for TC, or anybody who might have some info.. He looks have nice size and athleticism. But what makes him a top 100 player in the nation? Honestly asking because it’s hard to tell from the 1 highlight video.

This article pretty much sums up Shannon's situation. If I read correctly it is not out of the question that he could be a 2018. Still how can 14 games of Nike Eybl D1 turn this guy into a HM candidate. Injuries his Senior year of HS didn't help his status but still to go from no D1 offers to where he is today is just amazing. Nice article BTW.

Definitely need a big. Shannon still growing? Whitney, Shannon, and Liddel give us enough size? If Kane develops I would like that roster.

Say what you want about the Irvins but these seem to be more than just courtesy visits. If there was some alleged deal made with them last fall I'd say they've lived up to it. It's up to the staff now to close the deal.

Trice was MIF and MPHS. He is one I will never be able to figure out.

What would the pros/cons be on enrolling in college/redshirting vs. prep school?

Prep School Pros;
Get in another year to develop your game

Develop better academic habits

Cons;
You're in prep school and not college
You possibly lose a year of your pro career

I don't think he would redshirt at UI. Most likely would make the regular rotation, or semi-regular (More than Matic)

Is that still possible?

According to the article, he's academically eligible right now. So, yeah.

Kid pretty much exploded this spring and summer. That he's still growing is gravy. Absolutely no reason to postpone college for a year.

Open gym today will say a lot as to whether he's ready or not. My guess is a year of prep school is needed. Still only 17 years old.

I've heard nothing about Shannon reclassifying back to a 2018 besides on this board today. Is there actually any reason to suspect that is the case or is it just wild speculation?

Article attached to post #2320, states that a number of schools are recruiting him for both '018 and '019.

Shannon has literally blown up with the MIF this Summer. He graduated Lincoln Park HS in March and had zero D1 offers. He is going to 5th year prep school in VT. Has also grown over an inch this Summer and is now 6'7". Ex football player and is extremely rugged. Defense is one of his specialties. Too lazy to look up offer list, but now many HM's on it.
4 CB's and all to UI.

That's gotta suck for UI and MIF...too bad he didn't just figuratively blow up. Will be tough to get all the pieces of him back together in time for 2019. :D

Thanks. Did not see that article. Pretty much everything I have read calls him a 2019, but it will be interesting to see what he wants to do. I'd certainly rather have him as a 19 but with open scholarships I would imagine we would take him either way.

Ur welcome. Another message board post said his dream school is UCLA so you can see where his sights are set.
