I am bored today.....everyone reply with their top 3 mainly realistic choices!

Having a hard time whittling my list down but here are the guys I’m researching and watching hard on saturdays:

Chip Long, Offensive Coordinator Notre Dame
Todd Orlando, Defensjve Coordinator Trxas
Jim McElwain, Head Coach Central Michigan
Jim Leonard, Defensjve Coordinator Wisconsin
Craig Bohl, Head Coach Wyoming
Chris Creighton, Head Coach Eastern Michigan

#678
Mike Norvell- Memphis HC
Jeff Monken- Army HC
Thomas Venables-Clemson DC
Jonathan Smith- Washington OC
Pete Kwiatowski- Washington DC

Mike Norvell, Luke Fickell maybe, but I'm not willing to talk "B list". Let's find out what it would
take. (6 year deal at $6-7 mil a year?) Second best doesn't interest me. I'd rather force Lovie to
hire a DC and put the band back together. We want to be big time? Put up or shut up.

I know some people that follow ND football religiously and they can't stand Brian Kelly but really like Chip Long.

Big question is whether someone like Fickell or Mike Norvell are realistic. If forced to make a choice, I'm guessing both would pass.

1.) Dino. (We can get him.)
2.) Mike Norvell
3.) Luke Fickell
4.) Graham Harrell
5.) Kendal Briles
6.) Hugh Freeze.

I know I said 3 but other people did more so I did too haha. This is my list in order.

Making an effort to watch more ND football to get a feel for the offense but he can flat out recruit and has done so nearly everywhere he's been. That's the first step.

Wish I knew how connected he was to other coaches around the country. Trying to picture his potential staff is nearly impossible.

If we can get Dino he'd be in my top 3, without a doubt. That would be phenomenal, I'm all-in with you there 0440. As a matter of fact, he'd probably be the top name on my list

Not a huge fan of the other names, don't see how Fickell or Norvell are realistic options.

Dino is interesting. I feel this may be the route Whitman goes anyways. It will be similar to the Underwood situation. Whitman will try to "steal" a P5 coach with a nice shiny offer.

I don't know if they are realistic options or not but if the money is right they will listen at least. Kendal Briles can coach some ball and kills it out on the recruiting trail. FSU is just a dumpster fire right now.

Is this a product of Kelly being there almost a decade (can't help but make some enemies)? Or about Long's coaching ability?

I am bored today.....everyone reply with their top 3 mainly realistic choices!

Step 1. Make the decision internally that the Lovie Smith era is over and it's time to start working on what's next.
Step 2. Reach out to Jeff Monken to gauge his interest in taking the job with Cory Patterson and Isaiah Williams attached. My guess is he'd be all in.
Step 3. *QUIETLY* have Patterson gauge Isaiah, his family, the other Trinity kids, etc's willingness to transition to a triple option system with Isaiah as the centerpiece.
Step 4. If there is a Khalil Tate-like resistance to it, move on to plan B. If they want to do it, full speed ahead, Monken is your guy.

Plan B Part I: Assess the market for opportunities that might not be obvious to outside observers. Mike Norvell and Luke Fickell are probably on this list, but maybe there are others, even bigger names, that might be more gettable than it appears. Assess those opportunities on a case-by-case basis, though for the purpose of this exercise we'll assume none of these leads come to fruition.

Plan B Part II: The Shortlist (in no particular order):
Jason Candle, Willie Fritz, Seth Littrell, Sonny Dykes, Tony Elliott, Chip Long, Mike Tressel, just a handful that have caught my eye. Some on the list might not be interested, some might look less appealing as you dig in, but keep assessing, keep adding and subtracting from the list, and have a sense what you want the next 12 months to look like. This is not a superfund site teardown. This is about taking a platform that you've painstakingly built, and putting it in more capable hands.

Kinda wonder how much of the stain of Baylor is still on Briles. I don't know enough about that whole scandal to know to what degree he deserves it.

The board of regents should have really been the ones punished. While Art isn't completely innocent he was definitely the scapegoat.

Hiring Hugh Freeze is unconscionable to me. Hiring Briles would be 10x worse. Would never watch an Illinois football game again.

I don't know much about that situation nor do I care to figure it out now this long after the fact but in general I don't recall Kendall Briles being a big part of what transpired there and I don't feel comfortable crucifying the son for the sins of the father.

Let's judge Kendall for Kendall.

Monken is a name that more are talking about. Local guy even. From Peoria and went to Millikin
