Nice article about Jermaine Hamlin in the News Gazette https://www.news-gazette.com/sports...cle_53a5bd78-7f12-5e32-a027-e3afd5e5c6b9.html
Supposedly he has a 7’- 4.5” wingspan. Underwood spoke highly of his defensive abilities calling him a quick twitch athlete. His length is very similar to Keon Clark from Danville who was a late bloomer as well and then went on to star at UNLV and play in the NBA. He had a lot of addiction issues though.
I read a couple other NG articles and GB said he had a 7'3" wingspan, also Kofi 7'6", and Hamlin 7'4.5", finally some size down low.

Better yet some "quality" nice size down low, not just size!

Somebody was wondering about Kofi's free throws not too long ago. Came across this video.

Surprised by his 3pt shots and free throw shooting to be honest. I know they’re just goofing but he looked pretty slow defensively in the 1-1 though.

So he looked slow in a 1 on 1 against what one place rated the #7 PG in the NCAA this year, just behind Ayo? Well, that's hardly a surprise.

I continue to be less optimistic than a lot of posters here (surprise, we're biased!) I was giving this some more thought, and I think it comes down to 3 point shooting, and the ability to close out games.

3 Point Shot:
Last year, we had three "plus" shooters on the team (better than D1 average, approx 34.3%. When you look at tournament teams, that goes up, but not wildly so).

40.5% Trent
35.2% Ayo
41.5% AJ (graduated)

I believe the line is moving back this year, and is expected to knock off 2-3% from the averages. That could actually help us, if our relative strength is the front court.

Closing Out
Closing out games is subjective and intangible, but road games are hard to close out. We won at OSU, and although I believe technically it was neutral, Maryland at MSG should count. We stunk for a lot of the year, so it remains to be seen if a more experienced and talented edition of the team can run the offense for 40 minutes, with the will & skill to finish off opponents.

I expect we'll be significantly better, but without some orange-colored glasses, I see and up & down conference slate. I'll be happy with anything over .500.

I think the three main reasons we struggled were our inexperience, rebounding, lack of interior defense (rim protector). We got better as young players got experience and now have added some help to the other areas. I am still concerned about who will be out 3rd key post player but we have guys that will adapt and shoot the ball. Some of our guys we are counting on to shoot it (tev and AG) still do need more experience and i think they will step up and i am concerned but not nearly as much as i am about the 4 spot.

I was impressed! Seemed to have a soft touch. Maybe he takes the center outside and lets Giorgi operate in the paint.

Lots of high-low options and ability to change out who plays the pinch post within the flow of spread.

BU has also run the “euro” pick and roll continuity in the past at sfa (basically a 2 screener version of the weave we ran a lot last year), which allows for pick and rolls/posts as well as high-low looks between the bigs.

Mark few has also run that pick and roll continuity at Gonzaga and I’m hopeful Gentry has brought it back up to BU since his return.

All I know for certain is SFC will be up for grabs if we somehow go into that Michigan game undefeated. Unlikely, but possible.

I think anything over .500 gets us in the dance, so I am with you on that one.

Charlie Moore of DePaul has been granted a waiver to play immediately.

Should we file this under we know you didn't get paid, so you couldn't get to play, so you said see y'all, and get to play right away at Depaul.....transfer rule?

Wingspan U be us.
I still think Hamlin will see 5-6 mins as BBV still not cleared to play and they will need defense. Maybe in a zone to simplify but they can afford to lose some offense but not defense if the opponents have size.

Did we ever get a diagnosis on what is wrong with BBV?

Stress fracture is what I’ve seen on here. I haven’t seen it reported elsewhere, but it makes sense considering the long recovery period. Unfortunate for this young man as he has missed a lot of valuable practice.

Just a hunch but I think Senior Kipper, if nothing else will be a solid defender. Better than Hamlin as long as the opponent is under 6-9

That would be especially nice, since he has historically been a defensive liability most of his career.
