Missouri 63, Illinois 56 POSTGAME

I try to be positive.... but we turned the ball over every time we had a timeout, media and called time outs. That’s coaching. They hit a 3 every time we went to zone. It’s too easy for teams to prepare for us. Then you combine that with not boxing out, missing bunnies, and a stagnant offense and we are easily beatable. We need to figure it out fast or we are done.
Not to mention we give teams one side of the floor. We force them left which is fine, but you give the whole floor. Any athletic or skilled player can beat that.

I'm telling you there is locker room issues. Look at Brad, he's not the same fiery coach. Frazier has sat in the back seat with everyone else not wanting to take shots, giorgi in a new role or not is a shell of himself. Then you add in this idiotic weave offense. Not good
Agree that something is wrong. Some say Ayo won't pass to Trent. I don't know that. Giorgi is still useful but all this elbow swinging and hooking he does going to the hole belongs on the playground. The weave doesn't work because the other team jumps out I'm front of it and the offense stops. Our 6 foot shooting guard needs screens to get open. Our 6 5 point guard is not a good shooter or distributor. We play a guy you don't have to guard which mucks up whatever you run. Our roster is thin..Nichols was bad, Griffin OK, and Tevian is rusty. Things will have to change or he will transfer. Kofi did not have his best game but he got hacked a lot. He has not developed bbv or he just isn't good enough. Defense has been mostly good and rebounding also but against power 5 teams will likely will only be slight advantage. Hard to see more than 8 big ten wins.

Ahhhhhh good! I was patiently waiting for this!

DMW was grading out higher than any other player on the team the last couple of games and you had zero comments on that. Silence.

Now after an all around terrible game where ALL our best players were terrible.... he's "without a doubt, the worst player on this team...." except that he was previously grading out as the best.

Despite all the missed bunnies by EVERYONE.....you come in here with this tired rant on Damonte.

It's funny how you claim to be a "glass is half full" kinda guy in another post, yet with Damonte you somehow can't seem to find that half.

GMAFB...indeed.
I don't have the hostility toward DW that the OP has, but the bottom line is that this team needs more players with fewer holes in their game. DW has some major holes and it's hurting us. Others do as well, but those missed layups were morale killers.

GB is the only person who gets the ball to Kofi. The weave seems to be new form of "mental masturbation." No one on the team moves without the ball, and we use an offense which discourages passing. Our guards better figure how how to play together, or it is going to be long season.

They can't even run their spread offense, which hasn't worked in 3 years. It's been the same nucleus of players last 2 years, I feel like we've been sold a bill of goods here. Trust me I'm pulling for Brad but it's just not worked. Something needs to change...

If we had some shooters, things would a whole lot different. Frazier is the closest thing to a consistent shooter, but he doesn't take enough of them to matter. As is, our offense is easy to game plan against when all you do is kill 15 seconds off the shot clock by doing 30 handoffs on the perimeter.

Not only did we get punked, we looked like punks doing it.

I don’t want to hear again for a very long time about how we deserve to be ranked. Missouri is not a good team and they man handled us. This team doesn’t understand yet what it takes to win.

Javon Pickett: “We knew we were the tougher team.” You sure were Javon, you sure were. And you flat out punked us. Our boys are soft as chairman toilet paper.

I could see that. Trent was putting up 30 as a freshman. Now he's lucky to get 10. Something has changed.

Trent's progression is alarming but I think it's very simple. He's the only shooter on this team and BU decided he is more valuable off the ball as an outlet for Ayo and Feliz. That's why they dominate the ball more than he does. Not sure that's the right move, but it's understandable. If you put Trent in the corner the defender can't help. If Feliz or Ayo are in the corner the defense will sag off because they can't shoot. Trent is basically just a decoy right now, which sucks.

Sometimes when the offense is sluggish, I wish BU would just clear everything out and tell Trent to chuck 'em. That's what we did a lot his freshman year and we all know he can put 10-15 pts up in the blink of an eye.

Weak performance overall, but the rotations? Addtionally, the weak side rebounding was pathetic, and that should have been resolved during the game. Overall, it was an "F". Can't point at a player or coach that performed today.
Ayo had a good game IMO

Kofi really looked awkward and unskilled today but at least he fit in with the others. Totally exasperating.

Skyldub..would like to see the grading system...no remedial classes...only vs Power 5 opponents. He does some good things..but he has to do everything else at a high level (defense, passing, rebounding) to make up for not only not scoring but also not being a threat which allows his man to shade toward the other guys.

Damonte Williams is , without a doubt, the worst player on this team...anyone who still says he is worthy of the minutes he gets knows absolutely nothing about college BB....he missed 2 bunnies that anyone here posting on this board would have made and he let everyone drive by him like he was in quicksand...if he continues to get the minutes he is getting then we can kiss the tourney GOODBYE...

this loss is on Underwood for playing DW as much as he did and not making ANY adjustments....Did the refs do a good job ? Don't get me started on that as misery should have had all their players foul out with a properly called game....

There are many here who think DW walks on water...Well, after his PATHETIC performance today, what do you say now ??????? I have been saying for 2 years now to play AG and TJ over him...if we had been doing that then maybe we would have won today....DW's 2 missed layups and his allowing numerous baskets by misery would have changed this game...

EMBARRASSING LOSS....no other way to say it...............
Understand your point....but a lengthy rant on DW when everyone sucked today (save Ayo) is exaggerating his overall impact. We didnt lose today based on DW s play.

Underwood, should use that fire to get the team ready to play. I just don't think this team is mentally tough enough. I see glimpses of it but not consistently. I don't know that they get it, yet, there not that good, and better be ready each game.

Our best offense was Ayo penetrating. BU is not good at changing pace or changing momentum. I think if we went to the "hawk defense and run" like we had last year we would have been more effective. Their half court defense was effective and BU was not effective at responding. This game lands on coach IMO.

Well put my friend. We have a 7 foot hammer
and our guards don't appear to know he's on the court. If they worked the high low with Giorgi, it would open the floor for our shooters as the other team's defense would be forced to pack in.
