Missouri 63, Illinois 56 POSTGAME

I actually thought the SEC announcers were trying to give us the benefit of the doubt. Seemed like they kept waiting for us to come back.

Just a terrible look for this team today.

When I praised Pickett's energy and hustle in the pregame and wished that Damonte could bring some scoring to his game a couple chimed in on how unimportant that is.

Sorry, but not only is the lack of offense a problem, missing layups is an absolute morale killer.

Out of curiosity, what players from last year have you seen significant improvement from this year?

Embarrassing. This team lacks heart. The major takeaway I have from this game is its absolutely time for Griffin to start over Damonte.

Damonte Williams is , without a doubt, the worst player on this team...anyone who still says he is worthy of the minutes he gets knows absolutely nothing about college BB....he missed 2 bunnies that anyone here posting on this board would have made and he let everyone drive by him like he was in quicksand...if he continues to get the minutes he is getting then we can kiss the tourney GOODBYE...

this loss is on Underwood for playing DW as much as he did and not making ANY adjustments....Did the refs do a good job ? Don't get me started on that as misery should have had all their players foul out with a properly called game....

There are many here who think DW walks on water...Well, after his PATHETIC performance today, what do you say now ??????? I have been saying for 2 years now to play AG and TJ over him...if we had been doing that then maybe we would have won today....DW's 2 missed layups and his allowing numerous baskets by misery would have changed this game...

EMBARRASSING LOSS....no other way to say it...............

Completely out-coached and out-played. Weren’t prepped at all. Never adjusted to their trapping. Just a terrible showing by what I’m starting to really believe is a poor staff.

Mizzou wanted it more. That’s clear just off the rebounding effort.

But the biggest concern to me, again, is our complete lack of a half court offense. Guys look lost, out of position, constantly. We rarely have any kind of movement. The three man weave out top is not an offense. If we don’t get points off transition we don’t get points. We had four assists today. Four!

If BU is going to scrap his pressure defense that can at least lead to transition, he needs to install some kind of an offense. I’m not sure what they are trying to accomplish in the half court, but it’s highly ineffective.

At any given point in a game it's easy to locate five guys who have the same problem.

I'm telling you there is locker room issues. Look at Brad, he's not the same fiery coach. Frazier has sat in the back seat with everyone else not wanting to take shots, giorgi in a new role or not is a shell of himself. Then you add in this idiotic weave offense. Not good

Feliz, Damonte, and Kipper combine for 4 points.

Frazier and Giorgi combine for 10.

Gotta score points to win. Those 5 should be combining for 40 points, not 15.

I could see that. Trent was putting up 30 as a freshman. Now he's lucky to get 10. Something has changed.

This team has no point guard.... a bunch of good guards but no natural point who is in charge ,will run the show, and direct traffic .

Weak performance overall, but the rotations? Addtionally, the weak side rebounding was pathetic, and that should have been resolved during the game. Overall, it was an "F". Can't point at a player or coach that performed today.
This. Ayo with a decent 1st half and some good hero ball to the hoop when it was way too late in the game, but basically no one performed. Merry Turdmas, Illini fans.

They can't even run their spread offense, which hasn't worked in 3 years. It's been the same nucleus of players last 2 years, I feel like we've been sold a bill of goods here. Trust me I'm pulling for Brad but it's just not worked. Something needs to change...

Ahhhhhh good! I was patiently waiting for this!

DMW was grading out higher than any other player on the team the last couple of games and you had zero comments on that. Silence.

Now after an all around terrible game where ALL our best players were terrible.... he's "without a doubt, the worst player on this team...." except that he was previously grading out as the best.

Despite all the missed bunnies by EVERYONE.....you come in here with this tired rant on Damonte.

It's funny how you claim to be a "glass is half full" kinda guy in another post, yet with Damonte you somehow can't seem to find that half.

GMAFB...indeed.

These guys just don't get it. You have to be prepared to play to the highest level every game. I can't believe after the whoopin' they took last year that they weren't foaming at the mouth for this game. Instead they come out and let MO play harder and tougher. Where is their toughness and pride. And how in the h#ll can Underwood NOT get them ready to play this game! GB, with 6 to's is absolutely bad.

Anyone else think maybe there is too much substituting? Seems like no continuity the end of first haf and whole second half. Same 5 or even 4 werent on the floor together for more than a posession or two. This team should be better than it is.

#72
I try to be positive.... but we turned the ball over every time we had a timeout, media and called time outs. That’s coaching. They hit a 3 every time we went to zone. It’s too easy for teams to prepare for us. Then you combine that with not boxing out, missing bunnies, and a stagnant offense and we are easily beatable. We need to figure it out fast or we are done.

Guilty here. I felt like we got better when Feliz came off the bench, mostly because Ayo, Trent, and Dre are our only guys who can create points off the dribble, so it makes sense to put Dre with the bench unit rather than play all three at once. Said differently, our starters lacked defense and iq, while our bench lacked scoring. So DW made sense to start.

But instead of cleaning up the bad turnovers, he’s added missing layups to his game.

I’m all in on AG starting (also the only guy who showed passion today).

Can't remember a Braggin' Rights game where we didn't make at least one 10-15 pt run. Shut down from start to finish, outside of Ayo. Embarassing.

And even more embarassing is I now have to root for Mizzou the rest of the season. Hopefully this doesn't end up a bad loss.
