Illinois, LSU, Gonzaga and Iowa State

I hope we stick with our current :illinois: for a looooonggg time because man, it sure takes a loooooonnngggg time for everybody else to adopt the new vs. old insignia.

That said, the "Illini" on our current jerseys with the right hook on the top of the letters...I could go with that being changed pronto.

...unrelated to recruiting, tsk tsk I know I know

From what I could find it looks like Brown played three years at WF so am I right in assuming that he would sit one and play one?

Yep, unless the transfer rule goes through or he gets a waiver.

Which shouldn't be too much of an issue since his coach just got fired, right?
Granted he could've heard rumors, but the fact that Brown announced his transfer before Manning was fired seems to weaken this argument.

Hey guys and gals I have some inside info, didnt know where to put it as it covers a few points. It's going to be a long read but here goes.
Let me start this off with I gave my absolute word to the person I was given the opportunity to speak with that I wouldnt disclose there name so please respect it as I will respect it and not reveal it, the only thing I will say is that he is currently on the roster for us and will be for the foreseeable future.
Here's how the convoy went.
Me: First off congratulations on having such a successful and great season, many illini fans are so appreciative of what you guys did and are doing and I would like to thank you and congratulate you from myself and all of my fellow Illini fans.
Him: Thank you bro, it means a lot to me and my teammates when people take the time to tell us what illini basketball means to them, I love it, and i love it here. I really believe there is no place like a sold out state farm center, the fans are amazing, you guys are amazing, we couldn't do it without you all.
Me: Thank you, now let me kind switch it up here for a second, what are your thoughts on what's transpired this off season as far as Alan and tevian transfering, Ayo and Kofi declaring for the draft?
Him: To be honest it's kind of heartbreaking, Tevian leaving was not really a shock to me he wanted more playing time but was very impatient, he wanted to go somewhere closer to home where he could play big minutes.
Alan leaving was not as shocking to us as it was to you and the fans out there, me personally I think Alan made his decision to transfer after the incident at purdue, coach does not put up with b.s. hes a hard nosed coach, he really let alan know how bad he messed up. Alan kept telling coach it was an accident he didnt mean to step on him, but he thought coach did not believe him and they kind of butted heads a bit after that, Alan wanted to be a starter, he wanted to be that guy and he hustled everyday to earn what he wanted, and that left him with a bad taste in his mouth, he felt underappreciated, under used so he decided to go somewhere he could get those big time minutes and a starting job, basically he needed a fresh start, Alan's my brother he always will be.
As far as ayo we all expected him to declare and we will love and miss him dearly and wish him nothing but the best. Kofi was a bit of a surprise to me,I'm still talking to him, letting him know I'm here for him either way, I talked to him a couple days ago about who we have coming in next year and what we could do with him here. I told him we can shock the world. So he knows we all want him back here next year, but ultimately that's on him.
Me: That is a ton of information to process, one more question what can you tell me about chaundee brown?
Him: I actually spoke with him recently before he dropped his final four, he had a few questions for me about campus life, state farm center, the fans, the atmosphere, the coaching staff, and a few other things I wont say.
Anyways i told him that State farm center is the best place to play college basketball, we are in the Big10 the best conference in college, we play high level competition every game, the atmosphere is second to none and our coaching staff are amazing, especially fletch, and coach O we all love coach O, I told him about coach B and how competitive he is and that he is a great coach to play for.
The last think I told him was that we are building something special here and we would love for him to be apart of it, he would be a great addition and could immediately come in and contribute to a great program.
Me: That is awesome I dont think the coaching staff could have said it any better, i really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me during these trying times in our world, it means a lot to me and the fans, I hope all is well with you and your family and you continue to stay safe.
Him: Trust me it's not a problem, not like I have anything going on, I've already worked out three times today so I have nothing going on, i appreciate you and the rest of the illini nation and fans out there, you guys are what keep us going. Stay safe and by the way i think kofi will be back.
Me : I and many many others hope your right! Thank you so much.

Good info...thanks for posting.

But your secret is safe. The info you revealed is essentially what has been speculated x1000 on these message boards. So no new info really. Just nice to know the speculation was true after all.

With Brown’s rebounding numbers it sounds like he could play the four. Proven talent in high level competition. Just wonder how he would compare to Jacob in style of play, strength, ball handling, etc. Small for the 4 but so was Preacher in 05. I keep hoping for a Jordan Murphy type player who was smallish but played big.

If Kofi doesn’t come back, combined with the departure of AG and Feliz we will desperately need rebounding help from all over the floor. Brown would certainly help make up for the rebs we lost from the wing position... if he got an immediate eligibility waiver for this year that is
