Jerry Meyer just flipped as well!!
-Piper and Meyer seem "ehhh, I'm not sure what's gonna happen here" both rated its a 6/medium
-Snow, more of a "I have no clue if this is right, but someone else flipped, so I'll join them." 2/10/low

Except Snow flipped first.

My memory is a little foggy but as I recall, Henson and Eddie Sutton were in a fierce recruiting battle for Olaf Blab. Blab teamed with Douglas and Winters, taking us all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. :)
Illinois did not reach the Sweet Sixteen the year that Blab and Winters/Douglas were teammates. Lost in the second round.

He said it on the Saturday Morning Sportsline radio show. Not in print. I asked him about it later, and he said that Nesbitt has told the coaches that he is coming but that he still expected SLU to make a big push late.

That's pretty loose lipped to be saying just that! If that was me, it wouldn't sit well. It's my big day to announce where I'm going and the coaching staff is already leaking it to others....

Hope it doesn't come back to bite us! However, all signs are starting to point towards this being accurate, so ehhh

You can't teach 7-foot-2, but when it came to Olaf, apparently no one could teach him basketball skill either.

I just found it. Tate was vague but he said that he expected SLU to make some kind of big push. He didn't make a prediction but said he heard Illinois. Thanks for answering 🙂

Trying to recall if we've ever won a recruiting battle with Kentucky. (Seldom are we competing for the same kids, I realize. I can only think of players we lost.)
Big Mike Thorne Jr baby! 😃🔸🔹

Not a H.S.recruitment that I remember us beating them out in however ...

EDIT: Somebody beat me to it! My apologies

The tides have already changed it just hasn’t broke camp and gotten to the “Gurus” yet...

I just want to reiterate this point please...

This decision was made weeks ago! 🔸🔹

Things got foggy when that decision made its way thru the coaches and AAU back-channels however, because at that time it was looking like no one would be able to compete with what SLU was offering...

Once the Nesbitt’s decided leaving home was an option, and that SLU was not the stage they wanted to be on... things shifted!! 🌊 🌊 🔷 🔶

but it still hadn’t made its way to these websites, Twitter, OR to the gurus yet..

Seeking opportunity, AAU money-hungry connectors and their friends tried to send in the troops late, which temporarily had the Nesbitt’s hit pause...

But ultimately (and very briefly), they decided against that route and stuck to what & where they trusted, which is undoubtedly Illinois! 🔶 🔷

This staff is doing what no other staff has been able to do since Self was here, like it or not, one of the greatest college basketball coaches of our era! And people around here and out of the state alike, are taking notice!

It’s just hilarious to me that these “guru’s“ are having so much trouble keeping up with the current! 🌊 🌊 🌊 🌊

They are literally weeks behind! As evidenced by Snow’s “confidence of 2” on his Flip! 🧑🏼‍🦯🧑🏼‍🦯

what a joke! 🙄

I’ll say it again, Piper is one of the best in the business and Snow is following him on this pick because Brian knows nothing!

The funny thing is, Piper really might not know anything this time either... it appears to me that he is just following Sturdy, who when it comes to IL recruiting is the real G.O.A.T. around here!! 💯🔥
