Baylor 82, Illinois 69 Postgame

I promised myself I'd be ok if we lost this one...I just didn't anticipate we'd give up. Don't think we learned whatever lesson the scare with Ohio was supposed to teach us.

Not sure what was terrible about. Can you explain this?
Sure can, zero adjustments on defense, zero offensive adjustments. Do you like when we just dribble it at half court and wait for a ball screen that does nothing or when the dribble hand off weave does nothing. Let me know.

I don't mind too much losing to a great team in a tough game, but giving up in the last 10 minutes is pathetic. That ending was embarrassing.

Sucks to lose that way, but I have to think it only makes us better and gives us a lot to learn from. We likely won't play a better back court all season. Loved how strong some of our freshman played. Ayo and Kofi will have better games. We were just out of rythym when Kofi got into foul trouble early.
If Kofi hadn't gotten into trouble, I don't see a 1-pt game at halftime.

This team has the chops. We looked surprisingly polished for a young team last week. Baylor showed us what poise and persistence really looks like. Something to aim for.

Rebounds, turnovers, and fouls cost us tonight! And the lack of effort! I hope they learn from this night! I-L-L

Were we watching the same game? We showed up to play. We just fell asleep for like a 5 minute stretch in the second half and you can't do that and recover against a team like Baylor. For most of the game we played at worst even with them despite our best two players being ice cold. I am not happy, per se, but encouraged that we are a good team now and by mid-season we will be a true force.
Yeah, Illinois had to work for every basket. Great perimeter defense and without Kofi, it was hard to help on drives.

Baffling game, TBH. Our key guys didn’t do anything. Their best were better than our best. I guess that’s it. We’re not #2. We’re still top 10.

Very disappointing performance

Ayo and Cockburn(our best players) were particularly disappointing.

Not sure where this team goes from here but I see way too many flaws to seriously consider them a championship contender at this point. Just let the youth grow and gain experience.
Fourth game against the number 2 team in the nation. A close game until half way thru the second. I don't see how the world you can describe this game as disappointing. You act like we were never in the game. Where this team goes is to get better and improve.

Sucks but maybe we’re an elite 8 team. Probably sweet 16. Something is missing, effort, coaching, not sure but we should have played them tighter at the end.

We'll most likely have 2 more non-con games against ranked teams. We'll need wins in both of them.

Disappointing, but not unexpected and not an embarrassing performance.

Unfortunately I called it about five minutes into the second half that this has a feeling of a game that we will lose by 10 points.

Bright spots are GB, Curbelo and Coleman Hawkins IMO
