Sure can, zero adjustments on defense, zero offensive adjustments. Do you like when we just dribble it at half court and wait for a ball screen that does nothing or when the dribble hand off weave does nothing. Let me know.
I guess. I don't see it that way. We just played a very good elite basketball team, blaming it entirely on the coach is way over the top.

We played like we didn't belong on the court with those guys! Transfers from Presbyterian... wth... killing our 4 or 5 stars... come on man! Play ball!

Oh trust me it’s not all on him but when zero adjustments are made against a great team like Baylor, you can’t just rely on the same stuff that clearly isn’t working. Kofi wasn’t even involved and the transition points aren’t going to come easy against a team that has guards like that. Have to switch it up. Just figured there was a better game plan than what we saw tonight.

Sucks but maybe we’re an elite 8 team. Probably sweet 16. Something is missing, effort, coaching, not sure but we should have played them tighter at the end.

I am going to say experience. The difference between last year and this year are some really talented, promising freshmen. But they aren't Kentucky-type freshmen, so when our stars don't score much and the guys left are young and playing against a team that moves that fast and with that kind of intensity, you probably aren't going to win. And yet... we still played with them for the overwhelming majority of the game.

We are good enough that we ought to make waves in the conference season and, and by January I think we will be a really dangerous team. I still have a lot of faith.

I promised myself I'd be ok if we lost this one...I just didn't anticipate we'd give up. Don't think we learned whatever lesson the scare with Ohio was supposed to teach us.
I mean, the lesson wasn't "don't lose". The guys matched and at times exceeded the intensity of a very experienced and aggressive team. They didn't shut down or defer to Ayo when the going got tough. I didn't see anything like the Ohio game tonight.

Fourth game against the number 2 team in the nation. A close game until half way thru the second. I don't see how the world you can describe this game as disappointing. You act like we were never in the game. Where this team goes is to get better and improve.
They played horrible by all accounts, and still won... played wise than us except free throw shooting... we played like poop! Hawkins should've played more imo!

Illinois' perimeter defense wasn't that bad. They allowed very few open 3-point looks. Seems like most of the 3's came off of rebounds and broken plays for most of the game. Once Baylor was feeling it in the end, they were just launching shots and hitting, but overall I didn't think the defense was bad. I would have like to have seen something on offense going to the basket using Ayo as a decoy. That's kind of where we're missing a guy like Feliz.

Got a good lesson from a team that we want to be like...now just build on it..watch the tape of how hard all 5 guys on the floor for Baylor played and emulate it...can’t forget that this team hasn’t been in too many big boys games in quite a while...loved Curbelo and Hawkins growth in just a few games and GB had a real nice game

Even while we were in the game, we had to work extremely hard on offense just to get tough shots. It was just a matter of time until Baylor pulled away. Not sure if we’ll see another defense this tough all year. But if we do, we’ll need Curbelo to play major minutes to have a chance. He is our only guard that was able create out of dribble penetration tonight. He just needs more time to figure out what he can and can’t do at this level.

When your big man gets in foul trouble early in the first half... and then your backup to the big man gets in foul trouble early in the second half... it won't be easy. Also, they completely shut down ayo. Thats not lack of effort on ayo thats just strong defense. Baylor is a great team. Well coached and very ready to play. Sucks we lost... but not the end of the world.

Exactly. This was prime time. First time non con in a while we had a chance against a team of this caliber. Growing pains...

Duke becomes a must-win. Obviously not for any post-season implications, but for program optics. A loss at Duke, and Illinois fades back into “one of the top 7 teams in a deep big 10” territory and out of the National conversation.

obviously, we were aiming for the latter with this team.

Curbelo can do that because he's not double-teamed. Might need Ayo as a 2 when teams play him like that.

What a terrible coaching effort by Underwood. That effort was pathetic.
Totally agree. Hey Underwood, will you please make some adjustments on both ends of the floor? Why are we standing around waiting for Ayo to do something? Pass the ball and cut to the hoop. Start your best pure point guard in Curbelo and put Ayo and Miller on the wings. Curbelo can get anywhere he wants to on the floor. Play Hawkins more.
