He stated it was the only film he had watched so far. I think that has a lot to do with it. But I'm sure he would be thrilled to have Peters take the job and run with it, giving him a chance to see what he has with the other QB's. Spring ball is gonna be vital this year.

I am sure he has watched almost every game from this year prior to being announced as the OC. I am sure he didn't want to tip his hand by cleaning up the comment. I am willing to bet the QB depth chart looks completely different by the end of spring.
I'm sorry but I'm ready to move on from BP at QB. I know he has an incredible arm. But it seems like he's either really on or really off. Unfortunately, more off than on.
Completely agree, but I am hoping IW clearly sets himself apart this year and really works on his throwing mechanics this off-season. Worst case scenario, BP realized he doesn't have it to be an NFL QB and starts his coaching internship this year.

I think the system had a lot to do with the consistency of BP.
Make that three, I 100% agree. BP's completion rate was less than 50% and so many of his throws were just cringe-worthy. He was just straight up not good enough in the most important position on the field. I hope someone else steps up.
We can't know how much of this was the offense he played in though. Rod's offense was so feast or famine in a lot of aspects that I don't think you can say it was BP. When Peters is in the zone he had electric moments(early in the Iowa game this year for instance). But then sometimes the wheels come off a little and he would go into a shell. Sometimes he comes back out. EMU, Wisconsin, UConn, etc.
Part of that IS coaching. Part of it is BP. But a good OC ain't worrying about can I start IW. A good OC gets BP out of his shell even if that just means lighting a spark even if BP is a soft spoken guy. I think looking back on Rod Smith's comments about BP it was as much Rod Smith convincing himself that it could work. What's happening now is best for BP imo.

Peters has looked very good at times. Problem has been consistency as he has also looked very bad. I have to think that is some of that is coaching, and in the past Petersen has shown the ability to coach up QBs. Hopefully he can help both Peters and IW as well as the others on the depth chart maximize their potential.

Hobbs declares. We still have 3 solid players at that position. Yeah, we'll need depth there, as we do most spots. And before some freak out about transfers, remember this is guys from the 13th rated unit in Big 10. BB is gonna fill out this roster with players who fit his schemes. Tons of players in portal this year to help us out.

He plateaued badly, perhaps even regressed, after a very promising first couple of years.
But it's the Flying Marchese Brothers back there without him. Sadly, Marquez Beason wasn't playing for a reason.
Same story with Tony Adams. He didn't become the player it looked like he could be (getting jerked around between CB and S didn't help in his case) but we're still praying he stays.
We can dress this up in NFL Draft language for social media, but these are guys choosing to never play football again rather than play for Illinois in 2021.

Agreed both looked promising as freshmen. Them staying would help but they aren’t world beaters. You’re a little harsh at the end there. They’re betting on themselves after completing a full 4-year college career.

Come on, they are not making that choice. Nate Hobbs absolutely thinks he’ll be in the NFL this time next year. Is he wrong? Maybe, but in his head that calculation is not even close to Illinois vs no football ever again.
I agree, we can tap better players than Hobbs. Plus you are right, BB will find guys who fit the scheme they decide.
We can blame Lovie for not developing both Adams and Hobbs. BB will get players that fit. We should not worry about who is leaving.
