This cracked me up. “It was the first time in a while I’ve been really, really upset with my basketball team at halftime,” Underwood said. So it’s probably safe to say he’s been upset with his team at halftime, maybe even really upset. But really, really upset? Not in a while. Lol
I hope that "a while" is <= (Tues Feb. 2 - Sat. Jan 16 v. OSU). If not, we're in deep trouble.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist... BUT the betting line was moving fast from -5 to around -2 by the tip... any chance the refs were in on that?

Typical game in the B10. Game wise not a thing of beauty, however result was great, winning a game in the B10 especially on the road is gold. If Kofi has any aspirations on playing at the next level, he has to finish better around the rim, yeah he had some nasty dunks, however, he missed more than a few point blanks shots, one of which could have ended the game in regulation. IMO another year in college would help his stock, at this point he's projected late 2nd round. And I have to say this again, refereeing has been as bad as I've ever seen it and it has to be addressed, that phantom call on Bezhanishvili late in the game that fouled him out was mindboggling.
As to the phantom call on Giorgi, I’d like to see the replay a few more times but it appeared to me in watching the replay during game last night that he had his right arm wrapped around the players waist just prior to the entry pass. Giorgi definitely didn’t foul him with his left hand when the pass occurred. Again, that’s one I’d like to see again, and not saying it wasn’t a bad call. But just not sure “phantom” call is quite accurate either.

Lewis Garrison, one of the refs last night, is the guy that Kofi inadvertently hit on the top of the head last year, causing the ref to miss the rest of the game.

... so you're saying that, like IU's Rob Phinisee, his recent performance is sadly impaired via concussion?

I love Curbelo but him trying to split 2 defenders is a bad habit he has to get under control.
He was a total liability for much of the second half. How many times do you have to drive in to 4 players with no plan and turn it over before you decide to run the offense? He did it most the game. Early on he got bailed out with foul calls. There are times where letting him touch the ball is a massive detriment and then there are the times when he looks like a star. I would have thought he would have figured it out by now or at least shown improvement in taking care of the ball. Once he figures out how to play he will be great but he needs to realize he doesn't need to try to make the SC top 10 every time he touches the ball.

So they mentioned on the broadcast that January 9, 2010 was the last time Illinois won at Indiana. This was the starting line-up for Illinois in that game:

Bill Cole
Mike Davis
Mike Tisdale
D.J. Richardson
Jeffrey Jordan

Dominique Keller, Brandon Paul, and Demetri McCamey came off the bench for the Illini in that game. Tisdale led all scorers in that game with 27 points including 13-14 from the free throw line. Demetri McCamey had 19 points off the bench. Richardson also finished in double figures with 14 points.
Wow.....why in the world was Jeffrey Jordan starting over McCamey and Paul....

Bruce was always doing bizarre things to teach McCamey some kind of lesson. Starting Jeff Jordan, ridiculing DM and his family in the media, stomping around and screaming DEMETRIIIIII incessantly from the sidelines...I am sure there are things I’m forgetting.

I heard DM started laughing when Bubbles started the " fist " speech....

A couple random Indiana thoughts:
4. Trayce Jackson Davis: first off I had no idea he was Dale Davis' kid. I remember him on those 90s Pacers teams. I don't get the hype with him. I pretty much only watch them when they're playing Illinois, but I don't think he's an NBA player. I don't see it. To me, he seems like the classic "overhyped kid of an NBA player that was overrated basically his entire youth career" so now everyone just has this assumption that he's gonna be a pro. He has no shooting range or handles to be a modern 4. He doesn't have the size to be a center. I don't get it.
Your comment, I think, is mostly about his pro prospects, but I'll just say that Ken Pomeroy's rating of Big 10 players is
Garza
Jackson Davis
Dosunmo

There is something there, even if Illinois fans haven't seen it

He was unbelievable on defense. I’ve never watched a player make enough plays to give your team the win but also make some plays that could lose you the game
The team had only 10 assists in 45 minutes. Belo had as many as Frazier, Dosunmu, Miller and Williams combined while playing fewer minutes than any of them. Of that group, only Dosunmu had more rebounds and Belo had just one TO. He is going to win us a lot of games

Yeah. I was going based on NBA hype. I think he's a really good college player. I just don't think he really fits in the NBA. He'd need to really improve his outside game.

We are 2-0 in this rough stretch. Win on Saturday will put us in the drivers seat for a top 4 seed and still in the run for the regular season title
We need to get those games vs. Nebby and Mich. St. rescheduled. They are currently in 13th and 14th place in the standings.

Just understand that if any of us knew this is how this game would play out...Ayo fouled out, 50+ fouls....we would have given the Illini no chance at winning on the road.

This is really one of the greatest road wins in our history. 0-last 10 in Bloomington. Tons of credit to BU for not losing his sh#t and getting T'd up.
Huge props to the kids for coming off their biggest win against Iowa...and closing this jello wrestling contest out.
This is the first time that Ayo has fouled out of a game since joining the Illini.

Or...maybe he figured out that they were calling fouls when he would do that so he continued to attack and get to the line...

Please watch it again. It was a phantom call.

He had ONE turnover. He had 4 assists and 2 steals.

We literally would not have won the game without Curbelo.

You would rather we toss the ball around the perimeter over and over again when Ayo is out? Besides Ayo, he’s the only guard who can get in the lane and make things happen. Not always perfect, but never boring.

I remember thinking that Tisdale had arrived after watching that game. He quickly regressed back to the mean.
