There's a very real possibility that the 2 best teams in the country are Gonzaga and Baylor, and the next 4 best teams in the country are all in the B1G.
Are you saying Iowa or Wisconsin is the fourth one? I suppose it's within the realm of possibility, especially if Iowa is at full strength, or if Wisky is hitting threes, but it's still a stretch. However, you did say "possibility," so I'm not saying you're wrong. The other 3, including us, I would have no trouble believing that...regardless of the last hiccup.

Iowa would be the 4th. They piled up a bunch of losses quickly recently, which is going to reduce their seed in the tournament (especially with their remaining schedule...yikes), but they are right up with the other top B1G teams in terms of team quality.

Wisconsin itself isn't too far down the road, as I felt they got kinda screwed in the bracket reveal today.

So Illinois has to be in the Baylor bracket to avoid the other 2 B1G teams? Why is that exactly? Illinois will have possibly played Baylor as often this year as they will Michigan.
There's an NCAA rule in play that the top 4 teams from a conference need to be placed in different brackets. As Illinois is one of the top 4 B1G teams, and 2 1 seeds are B1G teams, they get shuffled to the Baylor or Gonzaga bracket.

Also very satisfying to see only one ACC team there. And, of course, no UK or KU.
I wouldn't be overly surprised if KU sneaks its way back on there by the end of the season. Right now they're probably hovering right around a 5 seed with Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida State and USC.

Gonzaga has defeated the Don's in San Francisco, 100 - 61.

Can anyone explain why they stuck Gonzaga(1) with Alabama (7) instead of Houston (8)?
I was under the impression that the 4th and 5th overall seeds should be in the same bracket..its not like location matters this year. It doesnt make sense to me either lol

The 1,8,9,16 pod would’ve worked out itself, but they needed to swap 13 Iowa with 16 Missouri. Because Pod 4 had two big ten teams.

Then they needed to swap 14 Texas Tech with 16 Missouri because pod 3 had two big 12 teams.

And then.... Basically they needed to keep 4/5 B12 teams, all 4 B10 teams, and the 3 SEC teams in different brackets.

It’s not about what’s fair competitively for the matchup. It’s because the conferences get paid depending on how many bids and how far those teams advance. The conferences would rather not have one of their own limit the earning potential of the conference.

Good information. Thanks for the education.

And like clockwork, Baylor just postponed 3 more games... All of them against ranked opponents (Texas Tech and WVU twice).
This season gets wackier and wackier.
What happens when this happens in the tournament? Does the ncaa just kick them out? lol

Way too soon to worry about the brackets. We still have a game to play against OSU and hopefully Michigan. If we lose both good chance to drop to 3rd and dependent on other teams records. If not, you have to win em all and sequence not important. Only important if final four is your goal and pretty sure that isn’t what Ayo is thinking.

Possible but Nova lost to Creighton and other 2/3 teams have tough games left. We might stay on the 2 line but it will be close.

The 4th 1 seed seems perfect to me. If chalk makes the final four I feel much better about going through Gonzaga than Baylor. Tournament play is all about matchups and I like ours better with Gonzaga. Obviously a subjective take.
