Carson Wentz traded to the Colts for a 2021 3rd rounder and a 2022 conditional 2nd rounder.

The Bears apparently never made an offer for Wentz

They did, but Wentz wanted to go to Indy and Bears weren't gonna overpay for a guy who didn't wanna be there.

I say sign Fitzpatrick for 2 years and trade up in the draft for Lance.

probably the thing to do . What about Alex Smith ?

dont know about trading draft picks for a QB though -- thats the problem with having a likely lame duck GM & Coach. You certainly cant trust Pace in the draft.

Was listening to the SCORE today after the Wentz news broke. Most Bears fans were ecstatic that the team didn't go after Wentz.

Though there was only really dumb caller who called in claiming that Deshaun wouldn't be considered an improvement over Trubisky.

Though I guess if there's one positive you don't have the NFL record $34 million in dead cap money that's gonna sit on the Eagles payroll this year.

Can the Bears still trade Foles to Philly? It would be great to get rid of the cap hit, and the player.

He underwent 17 surgeries to repair his knee this last time. Don't know if we could rely on him to last a season. Jacoby Brissett would be my 2nd choice after Fitz.

I don’t think Smith can play at a high enough level any more. Wonder if Jones from Alabama could slip to 20?

If I heard it right, someone said the SeaHawks were demanding 3 #1 picks in return. I’d love to see him on the bears, but that’s a steep price.
if they arent willing to negotiate the THREE #1 picks, no one will make that deal. If they will settle for TWO #1 picks, someone will. Not at all comfortable with the Bears doing that, but I could be convinced if he has 4 years left. Not sure about that, tho.

I don't know if Bears brass would allow Pace/Nagy to do that, cause if they don't win this coming season, they're gone and Bears would be without top draft picks for several years after that.

Apparently Pace and Nagy had a press conference today. Supposedly Pace made it sound like they will franchise tag Robinson if they can't come up with a new deal. Also there's a lot of talk about the Bears possibly putting a big package together to try and trade for Watson. I just don't see how Pace could survive the optics of that. Let's assume they trade something like two no. ones, a two, and a starter on defense for Watson. He traded the nos. 3, 67, and 111 picks in the '17 draft along with an '18 third rounder for the overall no. 2, which he used on Trubisky. If he traded for Watson under this scenario, he would have essentially used three no. ones, two threes, a four, and a defensive starter to acquire a qb which he could have traded down in the first round to pick in 2017. Why in the hell would you have that guy as your GM?

Not to mention the fact that Watson has been pretty public in saying that he feels like he was disrespected by Pace in the drafting process. Not that he just passed over him, but that Pace didn't even interview him. Watson has a full no trade clause and has a veto over where he goes in trade.

I would be shocked if the Bears didn't franchise Robinson. They might franchise and then trade.
I don't think they'll trade him unless he refuses to suit up for them. They need him to help entice a good QB to sign here.

Sounds like the Russell Wilson move may be happening sooner rather than later. Online sports books have started removing futures bets on the next team that Wilson plays for. I do know that the Bet Rivers Sportsbook that is based out of the Chicago area is now no longer offering futures bets on Wilson.

Bears have agreed to a contract extension with Cairo Santos. 5 year, $16 million deal. The final two years of the deal are voidable, which brings it to a 3 year deal at $11 million maximum.
