We play like that, we are elite
First?POY of the year. With todays performance. Has to be his.. There will be alot of him on TV over the next 12 days. We are going to have our first POY in college ball this year.
You can’t expect some of our fans to have a perspective longer than a couple of gamesFirst?
Any win against IowaWhat other games since 04-05' felt this good all around?

well, this isn't entirely unfair. I think Dee was the only player of the year and that was Sporting News which is probably the least glamorous of the awards. Did anyone else grab one for us?You can’t expect some of our fans to have a perspective longer than a couple of games

Thanks. TSN as well. The AP, Wooden and Naismith didn't start until later.Andy Phillip
And importantly, 4 Illini in double figures.6 different Illini had assists
5 different Illini had dunks
4 different Illini made a 3 (and Ayo didn't even attempt one)
Most complete game ever.
But Bardo and Gaudin (? not sure about other announcer) said it makes "The Barn" one of the premier college basketball venues....Thoughts on that raised floor? Somehow, someone needs to address it before someone gets badly hurt.
Different venue, but I still cringe when I remember that Louisville player who broke his leg a few years back on the elevated floors they used in the tourney. But Bardo and Gaudin (? not sure about other announcer) said it makes "The Barn" one of the premier college basketball venues....
I agree with you. Have always hated watching games there as many a player has fallen off of it. Way too dangerous for the way the game is played these days.
Big Ten Network will replay. Hopefully a game in 60Where does this one rank all time as far as alley-oops/dunks, steals, assists, FTs, all-around great play (passing, speed, defense) are concerned? I'll never forget "Paint the Hall Orange" game (Illini painted The Barn orange this time), Ill-AZ 2005 and others.
I'm searching, but does Fox re-run games? I hope this one will be on BTN in 60 or whatever. Wish now I'd recorded it, but you never know what's gonna happen, especially when some seemed sure Illini would lose.
To be fair, Minnesota was hurting; but what a performance, Illini!
Sorry, but I'm a little giddy right now.
As long as we shoot 56% it might keep happening. When was the last time we had 27 assists? That's an incredible number and if we keep doing that nobody will be able to stop us!!!
I truly believe he's gonna get one in the NCAA tournament! Triple double for Ayo in the tournament will be exactly what he deserves to cap an awesome career playing in the orange and blue for the Illini! I-L-LThe way Ayo is playing now, would any of you bet against him getting another triple-double before this season is over?
That was the greatest game ever in the history of the universe. I have the panoramic photo of the Hall framed in my Illinois shrine.I was trying to think of another Illini basketball game that was as much fun to watch as this one. Maybe when we beat No 1 rated Wake Forest 91-73 back on Dec 1, 2004.
I've said that for years and recently only a few posts ago. No wonder Minnesota has a great home record. Opposing coaches have to waste valuable time warning players about the plunge off the deck. What a Mickey Mouse arrangement ... and dangerous. Pure bush league. Glad Illini have slaughtered Minnesota - Illini don't appear to be afraid of heights. Bardo gave us a guided tour from the bowels of visting team lockerroom during the telecast. Absolutely primitive design - you gotta negotiate that elevated crap. Rinky-dink.Thoughts on that raised floor? Somehow, someone needs to address it before someone gets badly hurt.
The program needs kids to get drafted. If it lifts Ayo’s profile among recruits or NBA scouts, I’m all for it.I like that BU left Ayo in... This game should be fun and for the kids. Ayo deserves all the accolades he can get, regardless if coaches in the past would've sat him on the bench or not.
"It was Minnesota's largest margin of defeat against Illinois at home since Williams Arena opened in 1906"
Ah... still remember Andy Kaufmanns game winner against the bird peeps.Any win against Iowa
