Several minutes before the DMW technical he had his hands straight up in the air right next to the Wisconsin bench at a whistle and there was some jaw jacking going on. I thought it was strange at the time, not sure if anyone in the game thread mentioned it. That seemed to be more of the “I can stand here if I wanna” situation of the two.

Did I miss that something happened between BU and Antigua?

That happened right after the double T. I found video on Twitter, but it was taken down. Also, as the team walked to the locker room, allegedly there was more yelling coming from BU

In the huddle while they were reviewing the double technical, Antigua came in screaming at someone, possibly Williams. BU told him to get out and another coach pushed him out of the huddle. After the game, as they were heading back to the locker room, I had the impression that BU was yelling "O, O, come here!" The locker room video shows something entirely different, so who knows.

Tucker got quite inflammatory, and Williams was having none of it. Tucker escalated it by not backing down. A double technical was called to try and cool the tensions, as the game was still in doubt. The proper call should have been for Tucker to have received the technical. That is what Wisconsin gets on the court.

Thanks! DMFW is getting a lot of hot heat from those with a 10,000-ft view, but when we look closer it may have been a heady play. Maybe.

Either way, I like a guy that can get heated and still have the rules in mind. Letting emotion break out without losing control is a pretty good measure of maturity.

After the Illinois week from hell, let's see what the per-possession stats look like:

Yep, Illinois still clearly the 2nd best team in the B1G, and Michigan still clearly the best team in the B1G. 2 or 3 games left to play for everyone.

Respectfully disagree. If we lose to scum, beat OSU, and do as well as OSU in the BTT, we should be seeded ahead of them.
Totally fair, and I agree (mostly) if we beat tOSU twice were a 1 tough tast but very much agree. But, my point was to OP saying that the Michigan game was the most important of the season. I don’t think so, you and I both have it penciled in as a loss. The playing time in particular in “game ending situations” for AM and in particular AC is huge.

So, maybe O had a bad read on the situation, much like one or forty people on here had. Easy to straighten out if he take a little lump. I'd be shocked if we hear anything about it.

O looked pretty hot at DMFW, and not knowing the context, it would've made sense. I have full faith that BU has a grip on the situation and this didn't go any further than it needed to. The entire staff has to be running on fumes and will cut each other some slack.
Road kill in the books and get ready for Michigan.

I don't know about you but I already had none. Michigan is on another level at this point. They've now won @wiscy, @OSU, and trashed Iowa. I hate them but I'll call it like it is.

I decided to post based upon what happened with Williams and Alando Tucker.

The Badgers were huddling during a regular dead ballout. Since no time out (team or official) was called, opposing players are not required to go to their bench, and further, they can join such an informal, as any space on the court is permissible in a situation like that.

Tucker got quite inflammatory, and Williams was having none of it. Tucker escalated it by not backing down. A double technical was called to try and cool the tensions, as the game was still in doubt. The proper call should have been for Tucker to have received the technical. That is what Wisconsin gets on the court.

Interestingly, in postgame interviews, Gard insisted that the officials did the right thing by getting the Illini players out of their huddle. That is emphatically inaccurate, again, because there was no official time out. Complete sour grapes in his part, and if anything, it proves that he just a pouter.

It will be interesting to see if the league takes action against Tucker. I guess he had a similar altercation earlier in the year.

I am trying to find out what happened between Antigua and BU. It was not good, and it festered well into the postgame.
Another long time lurker first time poster. I rewatched it a few times and it’s hard to see but I think what started it was either Tucker pushed or chest bumped Curbelo out of their huddle. You can see Tucker coming around their huddle and you can only see Curbelo’s legs but you can see him stumbling away from their huddle.

Frazier, Miller and Grandison have their backs to what happened. Williams was looking right at it. He went straight towards Tucker and while they were jawing at each other you can read Curbelo’s lips. He keeps saying he pushed me he pushed me. Damonte should have known better being a senior but their is absolutely no reason ever for a coach to put a hand on these players. The league needs to look into that IMO.

Bump. Couldn’t have said it better.
I agree. Coaches should never be allowed to taunt players on the floor. Should have been a single T on Wisc for the illegal huddle, which was called. Double offsetting T's or only a T on their coach for taunting. They did not T up the Wisc coach for taunting which was bullcrap.

I thought I heard someone from the Illinois bench tell “GET HIM OUT OF THERE!!!” Right after the double T. Figured it was Brad. Maybe it was O.

The league should look into it, but don’t hold your breath...(cough-cough-Michigan State-cough-cough)

Thanks. In my haste to respond, I forgot about the contact. That is really the crux of it all. Tucker initiated contact during a non-time out.

The officials royally blew it, but again, they are not going to call Wisconsin for something like that on their court.

I expect some sort of Wisconsin press release on Monday that will half-heartedly address it. It will probably be a “sorry/not sorry” release.

Again, Gard’s video press conference is easy to find, and he fully believes that Illinois effectively “started it”, which is nonsensical.

I looked at this as well and during the review for T’s it sounded like Antigua was yelling at our players. I’m about 99% sure he yelled we just gave them two shots and the ball man. We just gave them two shots and the ball. At that point Underwood says hey back away. After the game i dont know if Antigua was getting on Williams about all that happend.

Ryan calls it right. This was all on Tucker. He was chirping in Champaign, and he was chirping throughout this one.

it is well known that he loathes Illinois, as Illinois would not offer him. 37 years old, and he feels the need to take out his pent up youth against a bunch of 18-23 year olds.

Again, will the league finally address it?
I did not see the game, just followed it on the ESPN app. Boy, I was thinking something was wrong with my connection as the lead shrank. Anyway, these , I will call them "incidents," with Iowa game last year, Izzo antics in Mich St game this year, Wiscy and Tucker & Gard, etc. I cannot help but think these are not just a result of our team having a rap as trash talking, cocky, etc. The more these things we see, I'm convinced the leaders of the pack the last decade or so are increasingly alarmed at the IL rise. They are used to kicking us while we were down at the end of Weber's tenure and the Groce years. They see that the sleeping giant is awakening again. And they are scared to death!

Yeah I watched his interview and seen that part. I couldn’t believe that was his take on it. Heck Curbelo has some high bb iq knowing he could stand there and listen in.I love how Damonte will go to war for his teammates as well he just has to know the situation. Wisky should have been assessed a tech for that huddle.

I believe it was last year when Williams was ready to knock out Iowa’s Weiskamp (or was it someone else? Bohannon?).

It lit a fire under the Illini then. Did not hurt today.

Alando Tucker is really a despicable person that needs to get out of coaching.

Some stats in regards to today's game:

-First time Illini have won games at the Kohl Center in back-to-back years since the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
-First time Illini have won 3 straight regular season games vs. Wisconsin since the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons. While the 1997-98 and 2004-05 teams won 3 straight games in the same season against the Badgers, the third games in those series was in the B1G Tournament.
