You know (most respectfully) I don’t think this game is all that important now. Don’t get me wrong I want to win it very much, but I see it as playing with “house money”. Winning today I think guarantees a 3 seed at worst. We would have to win out and win the.BIG tourney to get a 1 seed, with out Ayo? I just don’t see it.

That being said, what this could mean to Adam and Andre (Andre in particular) is more important than beating scUM and/or tOSU. If Curbello becomes a potential 3rd option to go with Ayo and Kofi because of the extra playing time. That might really lead to the real goal the NCAA championship.
Respectfully disagree. If we lose to scum, beat OSU, and do as well as OSU in the BTT, we should be seeded ahead of them.

Officially yes, however, he takes ridiculous shots at times that have no shot at even getting to the rim. For me a shot that doesn't draw iron
and the other team comes up with the ball is a to. Just sayin.
You should understand when talking of official stats, when you start with, “to me,” it doesn’t mean anything.

What I miss?

Oh, Loyalty Hot Takes are the best Hot Takes.

Seriously, if I told you pre season the Illini lose Ayo, start two Freshmen, have 20 TO’s, and that Trice would momentarily channel alien Monstar Steph Curry, 99.9% of you guarantee a L.
This team is fighting its rear end off.

Some of you could poop solid gold nuggets, and you’d complain that you have to reach into the toilet to fish them out.

FIGHTING Illini!!!

Same reason Gard was messing around with Trice getting pulled, then not, then pulled after he fouled out.
Of all the stupid things Refs call Ts on, that kind of stalling to try to freeze a player needs to stop.

If Ayo can play, I hope he plays. Illinois is not going to win the Big 10 title, but there's still chance at being a 1 seed. I really don't want the Illini to be a 2 seed in Baylor or Gonzaga's bracket.
I actually wouldn’t mind being the 2 seed in the Gonzaga bracket. Don’t get me wrong, I think they are a good team and had some great non-conference wins, but iron sharpens iron, and Illinois has been up against iron for well over a month. Meanwhile, Gonzaga has been hitting their broadswords against against those foam weapons you see in Dagorhir.

I love Underwood and this team. Are they perfect? No. But they play loose. They play hard. They have fun. They accept their flaws and don’t get hung up on it. We’ve been through too many years where the team looses enthusiasm at the end of the year, and gives up. This team will cough it up and miss free throws, but Underwood will let them play through it. I like that. Have fun, play hard, don’t worry about screwing up. Win games.

It's incredible to me how negative the comments about the team and our coaching staff can be given that we just won at Wisconsin without Ayo. Our freshman and role players are getting quality minutes that should help over the next month, of course they made mistakes but better to make mistakes now and learn. We are in line for a two seed y'all, this should be encouraging. The big ten is brutal this year and we are a game out of first. RELAX...take it in and enjoy it, god knows we have waited a long time to be complaining about win AT Wisconsin.

Yeah I wasn't able to watch on TV, listened on the radio and will watch my DVR recording later. To check the comments on Facebook and some here you'd think we lost by 20 points instead of winning by 5.

I think Ayo being out for a couple of games might be a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong, I'm pissed about what happened to him and it sucks he had to go through this. But, look at what the freshmen guards have done with him out. Ace with a great game against Nebraska and Curbelo a great game against Wisconsin. Might have been just the confidence boost they need going into the tournament and giving us a couple more scoring options. On top of that I could see Ayo coming back with a vengeance.

Spot on , and before you can be a "winner" you have to learn from your "losses"....this team has heart for sure . A memorable season thus far......

It looked like we were going to win by 20 late in the fourth. Then the last few minutes of the game, the only thing we did well is shoot free throws. Not a great finish, felt like if there was another minute on the clock wisconsin wins.

Exactly when was the last time we had a freshman PG play this well?
Lots of great PG's in our basketball history. Dmitri McCamey was excellent. Bruce Douglas probably gets the most votes because of his HS career. But Kiwane Garris is my personal gold standard.

17 pts/game. 43% from the field. 4 assists. Started all but one game.

But there wasn't another minute. Let's not let the Trice "story I'm telling the grandkids" heroics dilute that we DOMINATED WISCONSIN ON SENIOR NIGHT ON THEIR COURT.

Thanks.

Thank God I'm retired; I may watch it, especially knowing the result.

Enough of the criticism of Illinois players and coaches. Enjoy this entertaining - and unpredictable - team. They're winners, maybe not Final Four caliber, but very, very good with or without Ayo. It's great to see Illinois basketball on the rise. That's all I want anymore - a great program. Don't need no national champeen necessarily; it would be nice, though. Build this program Brad and Josh.

Long term lurker. First time poster.

I decided to post based upon what happened with Williams and Alando Tucker.

The Badgers were huddling during a regular dead ballout. Since no time out (team or official) was called, opposing players are not required to go to their bench, and further, they can join such an informal, as any space on the court is permissible in a situation like that.

Tucker got quite inflammatory, and Williams was having none of it. Tucker escalated it by not backing down. A double technical was called to try and cool the tensions, as the game was still in doubt. The proper call should have been for Tucker to have received the technical. That is what Wisconsin gets on the court.

Interestingly, in postgame interviews, Gard insisted that the officials did the right thing by getting the Illini players out of their huddle. That is emphatically inaccurate, again, because there was no official time out. Complete sour grapes in his part, and if anything, it proves that he just a pouter.

It will be interesting to see if the league takes action against Tucker. I guess he had a similar altercation earlier in the year.

I am trying to find out what happened between Antigua and BU. It was not good, and it festered well into the postgame.

Did I miss that something happened between BU and Antigua?
