Believe Michigan should be favored but (unlike some) still believe we should play the game. Seems pretty consistent with the predictions of the Whisky game without Ayo. Believe we have a distinct advantage with three players in Ayo (assuming he’s playing), Kofi, and Trent. Not really worried about Wagner as he will not go off in a big way but will get some points. Problem is stopping Livers as he is big and can score from outside. Bench is a crap shoot IMO as Giorgi, Belo, and DMW could have great games or fizzle. Michigan bench solid but not game changing except maybe Brown. Hold Livers to his season average and the game will be close and we have a closer.

I think many are underestimating our defensive potential here. There is as much a chance we hold scUMart below 60 than they score over 80.

Am I missing something or do you Illini fans really not see your team's huge, glaring weaknesses. UM's big guy can shoot free throws, yours can be Hack-a-Shaq'ed all night. Also like MSU revealed, once Cockburn has the ball you can send 5 players in on him. He simply will not, can not, won't ever look to pass once he gets the ball.

I'm sorry but the Illini are rubbing two sticks together while UM has a zippo.
I mean there is a reason your team did not want to play Illinois their first game back and took some extra time. It was not out of “an abundance of caution,” because your women’s team played that same night...

With Ayo we have a hill to climb without him it becomes a mountain. Hope I'm wrong but not feeling good about this one. We will need to play a complete game with none of the foolishness we have shown in some of our other contests. Go Illini!

What I want to see. No expectations but would like to see the Illini step up and hold their turns to 10 or less from here on out. It may be just me, but the culture of accepting wins with a dozen or more turnovers as standard is unacceptable. It simply says at Illinois we accept players who never learned to play smart and make sloppy passes and a couple every game without even knowing if there is a player in the vicinity. And Curbelo called for travelling in every game and called an elite PG does him a huge discredit. He needs to learn how to stop or go without doing a rain dance first. Other than that, they will play hard and unselfishly as is their norm. Also, I am reasonably confident they will defend with smart and consistent effort.

It would be nice also to see the FF% in both games over 75%.

So, bottom line, relax you mind, improve and take accountability for weaknesses. Win or not, I will be happy. But a win is likely if those two things are done as this team seems to always play hard and together.

Its just you and Ive never seen a issue more overblown than the turnovers considering the makeup of the team that has only one natural PG on it . Curbelos issues have more to do with strength than anything else which is actually a great thing considering hes a freshmen and its something he can remedy over the off season .

We play at one of the faster paces in the country for a top team and I while all coaches strive for perfection the reason BU aint harping on the turnovers is because over we are committing one more turnover per game over last years team while basically going from 137th to 17th in scoring while our shooting has gone up 43% (145) last year to 50% (9th) this year.

They simply need to play their game warts and all and they will be fine

I know Michigan is better this year, but I really can't quite put my finger on why. Dickenson is an obvious upgrade over Teske. Is the transfer PG that much better than the little guy from last year (his name escapes me)?
It really comes down to the fact they are executing at a really high level consistently - they are just playing unbelievably well. It's not like the talent overwhelms you with super athletic players you can't match up with like a Baylor - on paper we should be the better team and if you do the player to player comparison I like our chances, but basketball being a team sport, they execute much more consistently than we do and minimize mistakes

We capitalize on mistakes as well as any team in the country - but Michigan just doesn't give teams many, so we'll have to execute in the half court really well tonight in order to win

Lol. I love scUM fans. This is why their football team will never live up to expectations.

As much as I'd like to see us at full strength, I hope Ayo is out and sits until the BTT to get him as close to 100% as possible for the NCAAs - assuming we have a 2 seed locked up.

But, I'm not a doctor, I only play one on the board.

if he is healthy and ready, he should play. Ayo is a warrior, he's on a mission right now.

For me, it depends on what you mean by 100%. If there is a decent chance that he can reinjure it or make it worse, then I agree. But if it isn't 100% healed, but it isn't anymore dangerous, then I say play (if he can).
