The good news is that getting screwed out of the conference championship would certainly keep that massive chip on their shoulder that we saw tonight through the BTT and the NCAAs.
Great find! My understanding, and I don’t have access to the current version, was that they modified it. Can’t vouch for the accuracy of that statement though. For those curious, here is the Conference handbook from 2017-18: https://iuhoosiers.com/documents/2018/4/5//2017_18_Big_Ten_Conference_Handbook.pdf?id=27323

AGREEMENT 18. DETERMINATION OF CONFERENCE CHAMPION AND NCAA AUTOMATIC QUALIFIER
18.3 DETERMINATION OF CONFERENCE CHAMPION. A sport is considered a Conference sport in which a champion is declared when six or more Conference universities sponsor varsity teams in that sport. The Conference Championships Manual provides specific information on the governance of championships for these sports. The Conference champion shall be determined as follows:
...
B. Conference Win/Loss Record or Point Total. The Conference champion for the following sports shall be the team with the best win/loss record (or point total where applicable) in the regular season Conference schedule:
Baseball
Men’s Basketball
...
Note that I do not see any requirement for being within 2 games of the conference average. (But this is an old handbook so that may be in there for this year?)
I understand the sentiment of wanting Michigan to lose 2 to MSU, but then MSU might sneak into the ncaa tournament and I want to see Izzo whine about being excluded. This puts me in the difficult position of pulling for the thugs from MSU to beat Michigan twice. That leads to a question:
Whose nose will they break in the first game to make winning the second game easier? Probably Eli Brooks, who scored 11 against us.
Perhaps all the Michigan players should wear protective masks during both games.
MSU aint going anywhere if they make it to the tourney. Right now, the priority is us beating OSU and Michigan losing to MSU twice. Even if that means <SU gets in.I understand the sentiment of wanting Michigan to lose 2 to MSU, but then MSU might sneak into the ncaa tournament and I want to see Izzo whine about being excluded.

Haters gotta hateYou would rather MSU not make the tourney than see your own team win a B1G title? Bizarre.
Agreed. Always been of the opinion that in this crazy covid season the conference should be liberal with its awarding of co-championships. If any team could conceivably win a share of the title if all games were played, just give them a shareIt's truly mind boggling that the Big Ten could look at two teams who went 16-4 and 14-3, with the 16 win team winning the only head to head game between the two, and not call them co-champions. They have effectively assumed Michigan would win all the games it didn't play. Co-champions recognizes the reality that there are 3 distinct outcomes if Michigan had played those games (Illinois outright, Michigan outright, co-champs) and picks the one that doesn't favor either team. Unreal.
It sucks because Illini have had a great season and done what that was asked of them, but winning percentage seems like the logical way to do it. For those that say Illini are a game in front or half a game in front with different scenarios, I’ve always looked at that “measurement” as a way to compare teams during the course of a season when teams haven’t played the same amount of games but will end up playing the same amount. At the end of the season, it comes down to winning percentage.
In reality, even if UM had played the Illini game when originally, how many more games would they have gotten in without pushing back the BTT — which I don’t think is even possible? One more? Never going to play quicker than every other day and not fair to UM opponent to schedule a game between end of the season and start of BTT. It sucks but it is what it is. With the BTT or better yet it and national championship. That’s enough hardware for the year.
That is what I would do if I am Josh and Brad.If we beat OSU and MI loses one, hang a banner anyway. Our house, our decor.
Actually, don't focus on the nose. This puts me in the difficult position of pulling for the thugs from MSU to beat Michigan twice. That leads to a question:

The bigger question is who will the Conference use its influence for/against? The team to help get in the tourney or the team to screw Illinois out of the Championship? It would not surprise me that they magically split. This puts me in the difficult position of pulling for the thugs from MSU to beat Michigan twice. That leads to a question:
Whose nose will they break in the first game to make winning the second game easier? Probably Eli Brooks, who scored 11 against us.

I would not mind seeing Izzo whine. But I get your point. It is actually a win win for Illinois. I would still run a banner up at the SFC. Screw Warren and is minions at the B1G offices. You would rather MSU not make the tourney than see your own team win a B1G title? Bizarre.
In a way, this incident showed people what we are made of. Last year we lost big games without him. This year, we won big games. Iy brought the best out of us and Ayo coming back makes us more dangerous.Actually, don't focus on the nose.
I'm thinking that Izzo sent Sissoko out there and told him to take Ayo out of the game. Sissoko comes back to the bench and gets chewed out by Izzo because Ayo's still playing.
Sissoko: "Coach, I broke his nose. What more do you want me to do?"
Izzo: "Next time, break his leg."
I get the sentiment of being B1G champs. The prize is national champs. If the B1G was struggling and had no shot at national champs then great. The B1G banner would be nice. Bigger prize out there.
Both would be nice for sure. I guess I should've said if I had to pick. Why not both? And why not advocate for the bird in the hand while still seeking the one in the bush?
Upon learning of the Ayo concussion.... Izzo apologizes to SissokoActually, don't focus on the nose.

If we could win the b1g title, of course that'd be my preference. It is my understanding that is no longer possible if champ is based on win percentage. Did I miss something? You would rather MSU not make the tourney than see your own team win a B1G title? Bizarre.
