NCAA Tournament

I read that we have the lowest ranked 3, 4, and 5 seed in Kenpom. I’m happy with Houston as our 2. If okie state is a 3, W Va might be the three that swaps and we have basically the same path. Just beat everybody!

I haven't seen a Loyola game in 3 years, but I am very interested in a possible second round matchup. I want to see Krutwig up close.
Am I the only one who isn’t overly concerned about Krutwig?

Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a talented player, but I see him as a rich man’s Ryan Young. I am sure he will put up some points on us, but he’s never had to go against anyone like Kofi.

I think we do our best to lock down their shooters and take our chances with Kofi walling up.

That is, assuming they can get by GT and we can get by Drexel (of course).

The fear is always a semi-mobile big that can draw fouls on Kofi. It is our kryptonite. The game we could lose in this tournament is the game that Kofi gets into foul trouble. I am not afraid of 5's that post-up or even 5's that shoot a lot of threes (Although this can be a bit scary too). Guys getting aggressive and driving at Kofi and a jittery ref making a couple of calls when there is any contact is our worst possible scenario.

Nope! I'm with you. Kofi would give him da business. He's fitter, stronger, faster - I could go on.

Side note, every time I see this photo, I think two things: 1) Daaaa Bears 2) Where can I grab a quick polish?

I'm doing a Pick 4 this year. (Pick any 4 teams and accumulate points by wins x seed #, so picking #1 seeds will do nothing for you here but a # 10 seed winning 3 games gets you 30 points). Any thoughts? I like MSU at the #11 seed even with the play-in game, and Ohio at #13. Maybe Rutgers at the #10?
I have all of those teams winning a first round game actually haha

I'm with you - teams that depend on a low post guy for a lot of their offense, we've done well against. But let's be honest, we shouldn't be overly concerned about anyone at this point. We've just run the gauntlet in the last 6 games against top teams and are playing as well as anyone right now.

I am just happy we are now arguing with each other over whether or not it's even possible for certain teams to beat us. I'm used to the arguments being whether we were a recruit's 2nd or 3rd choice.

Or whether it would take semifinals, finals, or winning the B1G tournament outright to be on the right side of the bubble.

Not concerned at all. I just want to see what the hype is about and how he has developed. I need Kofi to just play good defense. Guarding position, with hands straight up. No reaching, no cheap fouls. That is the #1 key for the whole tournament. He has to stay out of foul trouble. My plan would be to attack him in the paint and get him in foul trouble. He has gotten 1 to 2 cheap ones a game that are his fault and the refs then add on to that by calling another one that is questionable.

seriously , the only team that beats us is ourselves

if we play our game and play it at even an "A-" level, we will be fine.
Final Four, anything can happen. Hottest team at that point wins.

If we play too many games like yesterday , we will have issues

Exciting time of year, and great time to savor a long journey. Hope everyone's enjoying it!

I really hope the guys are ready. It's easy to mentally take a break after a brutal stretch to finish the season, followed by a brutal BTT. No gimmies in the NCAA tournament.

I'm thrilled the guys will forever have that banner from the BTT. Hope they add another one in the coming weeks! No matter what happens though, grateful to get to see the program rise up and get that top seed in the MidWest. A few weeks ago, I thought a 2 seed was best case, but they blew that out of the water. Other teams in the bracket will be gunning to knock off the #1, but if anything can prepare these guys, it's the Big Ten.

Thrilling season! and it's not over yet....

I think we'll have a tougher time in the 2nd and 3rd round than the 4th, if we make it. I worry about us sleeping on Loyola just because they're a mid major that we might not take as seriously as we should. Lately we've done a great job putting teams away but I worry about what happens if we fall back into old habits. OSU will be tough because they have one of the best players in the country, but we'll still be favored. I'm actually not afraid of Houston and I doubt they make the elite 8. I won't even speculate on the final 4 since it's so far ahead. We're obviously a popular champ pick and for good reasons but it's called madness for a reason. I'm ready to strap in and be ready for anything.
I understand your concern, but in the last two months, who have we overlooked?

looking past the next game is NOT what this tram does.

Yes I agree we are battle tested. It will be interesting to see the other Big Ten teams and see if we were the best conference. All BT teams have been battle tested this year. Maybe except Mich.
They aren't robots.

In the last 2 months? Northwestern, Nebraska, MSU would be the ones I think we overlooked. We clearly took the Nebraska and Northwestern games for granted and ended up in much closer games than we should have. MSU seems pretty obvious. Loyola is much better than those 3 teams and OSU is extremely good. Our sweet 16 game is going to require us to come absolutely prepared.

I think it's funny how whenever we don't perform well against a weaker opponent, the gut reaction is, "we overlooked that team". Good teams can have off days. Give credit to the opponent. They gave us a good punch.

Ayo on an ESPN Show:

Another good Ayo interview. For this one though looks like he might be a little underslept (at least to me). Hope they had a good time celebrating their BTT title and get some rest!!

You match up like we have all season. We have beaten the best BT teams. If teams want to play hack a Kofi let them. Foul out their big guys. I wonder how a Loyola would have done in the Big Ten. Even. a Gonzaga. I know anything can happen at this time of year. Does any team in our bracket cover Belo. Man he was good in overtime.

Remember, he does have a broken face at the moment. If he didn't have bags under his eyes that would be pretty impressive.
