Playing Drexel . A good 3 pt shooting team. We just face three pt shooting teams. You feed it to Kofi. They play zone. You put someone in the middle of the key and boom. We just went through a gauntlet the last 10 games and boom.
20 points for Grandison.

Seems very strange to put us in the smaller arena. We absolutely painted Lucas Oil orange, and we are going to bring as many fans as any team in the nation, with the POSSIBLE exception of Purdue!
Hopefully, this is the only game Illinois plays in a smaller arena. I doubt there will be many Drexel fans in attendance, and it's likely that the 7-10 or 8-9 games would be more compelling outside of the participating teams fanbases. That won't be true after the first round.

Hopefully, not the rest of THIS year! Since they’re a #1, they’ll probably wear their lucky home script Illinois whites for the whole tournament, right?
Always wondered . . . why does the home team wear the boring uniforms? Why not let the home team wear their bright colored uniforms and the visitors pack the whites? Is this just part of being a good host?

^^ Did they actually say this anywhere? Or is this just how things have always been?
In a normal tournament, teams are sent to different cities, and potential second-round opponents play their game in the arena where each played their first game. Here, teams are scheduled in various locations throughout Indianapolis. We're at Farmers Coliseum, were IUPUI plays. If we win, we'd play the winner of the LUC-GT game, which is being played at Butler's home, Hinkle Fieldhouse. The NCAA believes that if the second round game were played at either place, the team who played their first game there would be more familiar with the place and have an advantage. Therefore, if we win, our second game won't be at Farmers or Hinkle. It's not a problem in regular tournaments, because each team in a second-round game would have had an equal chance to play (one game) in that arena.

kind of a crazy question : do we ever wear blue uniforms anymore ?

I always used to think of the blue uniforms as "unlucky," but the obvious correlation is that we only wear those on the road and you don't win as many road games, lol.

However, since I am quite prepared for my last MBA final ever and have quite the free time, I decided to look up our recent record by jersey.

JERSEY - 2021 RECORD - 2020 RECORD - TOTAL RECORD
Regular White
: 6-1 ... 7-0 ... 13-1
Regular Orange: 7-1 ... 5-1 ... 12-2
Flyin' Illini Orange: 6-1 ... 4-2 ... 10-3
Script White: 4-1 ... 4-2 ... 8-3
Regular Blue: 0-2 ... 1-5 ... 1-7

There it is, folks - the definitive science behind Illini jerseys and their undeniable impacts on our games. Then again, I could have totally made that all up and no one would even know! :ROFLMAO: But I really did waste all that time looking this up, so the moral of the story is put those damn blue jerseys in the CLOSET!

P.S. I was kind of hoping we would debut the blue "FIGHTING ILLINI" throwbacks at some point for a big road game ... maybe NCAA Tournament??
