The fact that we may be the only #1 seed to make the Final Four.... actually past the first weekend continues to make me sad. How many times are we going to hear that on these broadcasts....

Kind of glad we never played Gonzaga...wouldn't have been a good experience for this board
I think we would have posed some serious issues for them if we played our A game. Alas, we elected to play our D- game against the Fighting Sister Jeans.

Well, if we woulda played them in the championship....I think we would have preferred that versus what we got
Point taken...but would a 20 pt loss in the title game be more satisfying? Gonzaga is on another level. Can Baylor beat them? I don't see anyone else that has a chance

I had been hoping to see a Kofi versus TImme matchup... don't think Timme would have been flexing against Kofi.

I'm not so sure. Timme probably was the best big in the country this year. Playing in the WCC and late in the evening for east coast folks didn't do him favors.

People here giving the zags too much credit. If we met them I wouldn’t be surprised if we won.

Yes 100000%...I’ll take a 20pt or even a 30pt loss in the championship game to an undefeated Gonzaga versus a loss in the first weekend

They can lose. Couldn't believe how badly they played against BYU in their conference tourney. Baylor is better than BYU. I still think it is likely Gonzaga to win it all

I don't think we would have had a chance..we don't match up at all, our guards were sloppy with the ball...19 TO's vs Loyola...how many against the Zags...Timme would have scored at will...not a knock on Illinois, this is true for every team in the tourney with perhaps the exception of Baylor with their D...but I don't think they can do it either

There was no better big the second half of the season than Kofi (specifically post-Indiana game when he started making sure people could feel him). I’ll give Timme most skilled, but in terms of dominance on both ends Kofi was a force.

I think we could have won and probably would have, but if not us then at least let it be the team that went undefeated at least then our lost in round 2 as a #1 goes unnoticed.

Agree. Kofi was the best big by far second half of season. Timme is super skilled but he would have felt Kofi's size and strength. I think that matchup would have been even

I’m talking about the team that stormed down the stretch the end of the season—that team could beat anyone with their A game. I’m talking Ayo and Kofi v Wisconsin at home level of play.

We seem to have forgotten this. Our stretch of road wins / neutral court wins against top opponents at the end of the season was remarkable. I take that team against the field all day. We just can't go there because all we feel is that we blew it

Nah, Kofi would have been gassed, Timme is too mobile for him..and when we sub? Even if Kofi gets the numbers he had vs Loyola, the rest of the Zags run wild. Face it, we lost to a Loyola team that led from start to finish. Loyola loses to the Zags by 20+ too, even if Krutwig gets 20/10. Only someone who is blinded by O & B love, would think we would have a chance against the Zags. If the Zags win out (which pretty much everyone believes) they will be considered one of the best teams in history. Their passing their defense, their offense is on a completely different level.. And I am as big a fan of Ayo as anyone, but Suggs is the best guard in the country. If he goes pro, I bet that will be confirmed by where he gets selected.

Hey, I usually get annoyed by that stuff but he deserves it the way he is playing. He is punking Evan Mobley right now.
He’s so fun to watch. I’m with you; he earned each and every one of those.

I agree with you on everything except Timme feeling Kofi's strength. Let's give him a bit of credit, he dominated Evan Mobley today. In a head 2 head matchup I think both players probably dominate each other on offense.

Consider me blinded. No question we would have a chance. Maybe we lose but I like our chance as much as Baylor

Agree wholeheartedly. The fact that we totally crapped the bed against an inferior team in a single elimination tournament does not mean we were an overrated or paper tiger of a squad.

Agree. That's what I meant. On defense Timme would have felt Kofi for sure. They both get theirs and thats why it's even in my book

Any given night anyone is beatable in college basketball. Upsets happen more often in basketball than football.

This Gonzaga team is dominating their competition. I don’t think people can say who have they beaten anymore. The UNLV teams are the only teams that made it look this easy.

Probably never again if Gonzaga wins it all. Do you know who else was in the tourney in 1976 when Indiana went undefeated or UCLA the years before?

Here's where the rubber meets the road..If Mich wins and plays the Zags, does Mich have a chance (I would be surprised if it is under 10, but they match up with Zags better than us), we will be able to compare a bit based on how Dickinson does since we know how he played in conference....do Illini fans root for Michigan in that game? Personally, I normally pull for Big 10 in tourney games, but it's Mich. after all
