I would think UNC would be a tough sell for top coaches. The high academic standards might make it tough to get some top players admitted to the school.

Sorry to double post. Friend just tore off an old scar. Wes Miller was on the champion team that I will never recognize. Another reason to really hat unc. Just a couple of years away for another nut punch from dukeLive in Charlotte and also hearing Wes Miller or Hubert Davis. Some say stackhouse. Doesn’t affect us. They will always go with a “Carolina guy”. They keep everything in the “family” then again it did screw us last time
I heard UNC athletes have to be smart enough to get 'A's without even attending the class. That's a high bar!Really? I sure hope there is a high level of sarcasm in this post. Ask Shawn May about that high academic standard for UNC basketball.
But can he read?Sorry to double post. Friend just tore off an old scar. Wes Miller was on the champion team that I will never recognize. Another reason to really hat unc. Just a couple of years away for another nut punch from duke
Hard to attend classes that don't exist ....oh well just give them credit anywayI heard UNC athletes have to be smart enough to get 'A's without even attending the class. That's a high bar!
it was pretty evident they were literally waiting until April 1st. As long as you didnt hear of a raise/extension from TX Tech, then you knew the longhorns had their point coach.
I think Few, Wright and Stevens are probably your immediate short list. I know they’ve said no to good jobs before, but they haven’t said no to North Carolina. It’s still MJ’s school, iconic uniforms, national titles, prestige. The Duke, UNC, Kansas, and Kentucky jobs are in a different class in my opinion, and they don’t come open that often.
I also don’t think they will tie their hands and make it a UNC guy. I don’t see Wes Miller or Hubert Davis getting close to this job. I think it will be a national search. If they miss on Stevens/Few/Wright tier, the next level is probably Holtzmann, Drew, Bennett, etc.
I would expect UNC to be looking at Hubert Davis, Jerry Stackhouse, Jerod Haase. I know its a good job but it may be a tough one if you are a complete UNC outsider trying to come in there. The last time the North Carolina job opened, the coaching carousel did not end well for us.
Assuming this is all sarcasm. Self isn't leaving Kansas unless it is for the NBA.Prediction - Bill Self to North Carolina. Might just be time for Dollar Bill to fly the Jayhawk coop. History repeats itself.
Or someone that manufactures car bumpers...So ETSU's coach was forced to resign because he supported his players' kneeling during the National Anthem and their largest booster (an owner of a local car dealership) threatened to pull all of his money unless Shay got fired. Now more than half the team is transferring out. Way to self-impose the death penalty on your own program ETSU, just marvelous work.
Granted it is a mid major, but it goes to show just how much power boosters have behind the scenes at every program (look at UT Austin). I know that we aren't immune to this either, but let's just hope we never get to the point where a glorified used car salesman is calling the shots for our program.
Agreed. In Self's mind, Kansas is THE most presitigious coaching job in college basketball. I don't think his ego (and the fact that he is from nearby Oklahoma) would allow him to leave for a "lesser" college position, even North Carolina.Assuming this is all sarcasm. Self isn't leaving Kansas unless it is for the NBA.
The real conclusion to that nightmare would be us hiring Bryan Mullins.Soooo......Self goes for the gold at NC, and Kansas pulls Underwood back to his home state. Boom - the nightmare is complete.
Lol, yes it was an attempt at humor. Though in all sincerity, North Carolina is still a much better job than KU in my opinion, and KU never though Roy would leave, until he did. KU also is still in the middle of an ongoing NCAA investigation that has hampered Self's ability to use the Jayhawk name to lure top recruits apparently. A fresh start isn't out of the question. If he heads to Florida with the Fam he could be "torn". https://fox4kc.com/sports/recruiting-takes-hit-as-ku-basketball-faces-ongoing-ncaa-investigation/Assuming this is all sarcasm. Hate to sound naive, and I think I know the answer, but I'll ask it anyway: Would another school want to hire a coach whose program is facing such serious charges?Lol, yes it was an attempt at humor. Let's put it this way: if for some reason Underwood wasn't our coach tomorrow and Self expressed interest in coming back here to Illinois, you think anyone would say no?Hate to sound naive, and I think I know the answer, but I'll ask it anyway: Would another school want to hire a coach whose program is facing such serious charges?

I would hope that at least some people at Illinois would have a higher sense of integrity than those at some other schools.Let's put it this way: if for some reason Underwood wasn't our coach tomorrow and Self expressed interest in coming back here to Illinois, you think anyone would say no?
Bill Self broke my heart. I wouldnt want that piece of S*** back here EVER.Let's put it this way: if for some reason Underwood wasn't our coach tomorrow and Self expressed interest in coming back here to Illinois, you think anyone would say no?
