Looks like another good recruit, this one by Chin Coleman: 6'6" SG. "A native of Rockford, Illinois (the articles say his mom lives in Kankakee, so a homecoming), Storr grew up in an athletic family and seemed primed to break out at some point during his early career. After a transition out west to Bishop Gorman and more recently AZ Compass Prep, Storr has quickly made a name for himself as one of the rising perimeter prospects in the 2022 class." Maybe a PG and a C and we get back to work.

Funny how quickly we go from "worrying" about a lack of recruiting news to "I wonder if we are going to have enough scholarships"?

I know we're a ways out, but I am looking ahead to that 2023 class. I wonder how tight knit those three guys at Kenwood -- JJ, Dai Dai, and Davius -- are, b/c if JJ was being serious about how much he likes Illinois and we legit have a chance to pull him down here AND just maybe get those two to tag along, that would be the Sergio/Griffin/Frank pull on steroids. The fact that they'll be interacting with Ayo's dad in HS has to only help. Getting just a litttttle bit ahead of myself but hey, it's fun to dream. Either way, fun to see that Chicago looks to be back with another AD/Jabari-like talent plus multiple really high-level recruits.

Couldn't agree more. A top Chicago kid that at least talks about staying home is what gets me out of bed in the morning😆

I think this is a good sign for TyTy too. Do we have the schollies for both Washington and Podz? Good God, if Kofi returns the bandwagon can just get an oil change then hit the road again in November. Everyone will be copying the Baylor blueprint for a couple seasons.

Also love that the pic in his Twitter is of AJ and his sister who now plays for Drake, I think. His mom, a PE teacher, also played basketball. Well-liked in Rockford while they were here.

Giorgi is a great example. Check me, but wasn't he ranked in the 370s out of high school at Patrick? IMO, great get😎

I couldn't figure out what happened with the 2012 class...

They signed two players, and still had the 41st best class in the country.

As far as UNC, Roy has won more titles than Dean albeit making less Final Fours, Elite Eights and Sweet Sixteens (Dean also coached their twice as many years).

I would drown puppies to look at this as “not contending for a championship consistently”

It's just interesting to see Carolina, Duke, and Kentucky to have such off-years without a decline in recruiting. Roy, K, and Calipari continue to recruit, but they are all getting a little worse. You saw Roy retire this year despite having a good class coming in, and you see that they are all getting older as well. God only knows what coaches will come in to replace these legends when they retire, but maybe...just maybe...the new coaches do not return the programs back to their glory days.

I'd been thinking about this since we got beat by Baylor back in December and was reminded of it on Monday, but one of the things that jumped out at me about Baylor is that they were just...old. Like, not bad old like me, but clearly they were more physically mature than Illinois was, and than Gonzaga was, and it made a difference. I looked at their roster and they had four guys who spent a sit year after transferring, plus one of the guys they recruited out of high school was 24. Compare that to Duke and Kentucky, where all of the kids were 18, 19, 20. Even a guy like Goldwire was only 21 even though he was a senior, or Ollie Sarr was 22 this year.

It's not the only thing that matters by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it did make a difference for them. They were just older, stronger, maybe tougher. Get old and stay old, literally.
