Especially for a blue blood like Kentucky, where MIF would love to send all their kids. With all of the current talent at the MIF, would seem prudent to try and build those relationships sooner than later.

Yes, you could ask that question, if you were to completely disregard the circumstances surrounding those four departures. And, in a strange act of self-loathing, you could certainly blame one of the people who is staying for the feelings of abandonment created by those who have left. No question.I love Brad Underwood, but the question must be asked. Is this a leadership flaw? Or is this the business?
In 4 years we have lost TWO Mr. Basketball's and 2 elite Assistant Coaches. I personally think it's the current climate of college basketball. That being said, its something to wonder about.
See, this is our problem on here. The OP is talking about the Illini losing something that hasn’t happened yet. I understand there is a lot of smoke (understatement), but can we, maybe, not start the blaming until after the headlines come out?OA and Chin
Coach O?It hasn't been reported which came first but pretty easy sell for Illinois to their fans if Kentucky offered him 1.2 and they offered 900 and get to say they offered to make him the highest paid assistant when in reality it wasn't a competitive offer. He should of been given a raise the day after the season ended.

Finally, I'm not saying you're a cannibal who feasts on the flesh of the innocent in an attempt to attain everlasting life, but it's certainly something to wonder about. I'm not the one putting that idea out there. But if someone were to put it out there, who am I to say that it wouldn't have some legitimacy? After all, we're just asking questions in the spirit of open discussion here.

Sensitive much?

Because I can’t like this more than once. That wasn't being sensitive. That was illustrating the craziness of your post through parody.
They will.
Looks like we made an offer that Kentucky hasn’t yet matched
Uhhh here we go. I like this. Atleast we aren’t going down without a fight.
If nothing else, this could decrease Kentucky's ability to compete with us for Chin.
Agreed. But this illustrates illustrates that leadership is all in on our basketball program. They will.

226 Forbes? It’s been 51 years, but I might’ve occupied that room for a year.I've heard that James Augustine is interested in coaching. He has no coaching experience I'm aware of but he could assume the role of "big man coach" assuming he knows how to teach skills. Ex-Illini players would have more buy-in to our program and probably only leave for head coaching jobs. It works for Duke. Let's turn this seeming blow to our advantage and keep the rebuild/resurgence going. Deon Thomas has prior coaching experience. Brad should call Ex-Illini players first in my opinion. Build the Illini culture.
Should raise some interest from top assistants around the countryIf true and Kentucky matches and OA leaves:
1) At least we made Kentucky spend more money than they originally intended.
2) It sends a signal to other prospective assistants that we are serious and will reward success.
3) Good for OA, because that indicates that he is getting what the market is willing to pay for his services.
Where do I send my resume?Should raise some interest from top assistants around the country
Well, will UK give 4 years?I can say this with confidence. There is nothing more Whitman could do. He’s not messing around.
I was told by my source that we offered Orlando 4 years at $1 million per year. Whitman showed up to the table with the
This could go on for awhile with more counter-offers, standby...Uhhh here we go. I like this. Atleast we aren’t going down without a fight.
