I think AM did get the opportunity to be a more versatile scorer early the in the season. He wasn't a straight 3-and-D type in his first game. The problem is, when the competition got better, a lot of aspects of his offensive game weren't ready for that level of competition. Fine. He was a Freshman, that's ok, but the team had to adjust to win games. That means AM has to take a more specialized role, and he did, and he did very well. I don't think that's "lying" no matter what Underwood did or did not tell him, unless Underwood also said "we will continue to allow you to play how you want no matter what happens, even if it means losing games." I find it very hard to believe BU or any respectable head coach would make that kind of promise to any recruit, much less a guy ranked in the 30s. It's not like this is Cade Cunningham we're talking about.

The aspect of this that is upsetting is that just as the program begins to make headway in Chicago again, their 2nd big Chicago recruit, or his camp, are apparently now trashing them. I hope Big Tim is just full of it, and he didn't actually get this from AM's camp. Otherwise, I hope Ayo's camp shares their positive view of this program a lot louder to drown out the noise from AM's camp.

Agree, this is the only part about this whole saga that worries me at all. Luckily, Ayo's dad is an assistant coach with Mike Irvin at Kenwood and will hopefully continue to be a voice for Illinois in his circle. I would assume the Dosunmu connections are wider/deeper than the Miller's camp given AM was only there for 3 years and is really a Peorian at heart. We also will have to see how AM's (and Ayo's) career plays out. If AM doesn't capitalize and make it to the NBA while Ayo does and has success ( 🤞 ), then it will be pretty straightforward as to who young ones would rather take their cues from (between just those two). It certainly isn't a good thing that our 2nd recent Chicago/MIF recruit is leaving us, but hopefully the long-term fallout will be minimal. Then again, hard to know what to expect when dealing with MIF/Chicago recruiting...

Good points, juiceman and Fame Protector. I am hoping that the positives of Ayo’s experience and his success has made his parents and camp way louder in Chicago circles than Adam‘s disgruntled mother, who seems to be running his show (for whatever her reasons are) which seems somewhat similar to Alan Griffin’s mom’s situation as well as Mark Smith’s parents...

Big Tim is claiming BU lied to Miller and that we would be more of a ball handler.

"Starting is not the point buddy. He was told he was not going to be put into a corner to catch and shoot. Terrible reading comprehension."

I'm kind of sick of both of these stories. OK, KY, take Antigua. Take Chin. Take Miller.

How many kids will we have a shot at if we lose MIF and the Caribbean connection? Just short of 100% of them.

I won't say I only want ILLINI guys, but I will say, if you don't really want to be here, by all means, go somewhere else.

This is reminiscent of another IL Mr. Basketball. Kid lacked the requisite handle, passing skills, and vision to create at this level. Parent apparently blamed the HC. Kid transfered, was put into a corner to catch and shoot.

Adam Miller is a really good player and can certainly handle the ball well, but how could he or BU think he would get more time as a primary ball handler over the likes of Ayo (All-American), Curbelo (NBA level vision, passing, handles), and Frazier (4th year senior who has played PG in the past). There just wasn't enough on ball time to go around.

If KY lands all 3, Illini should get something added to the win% for each KY win next season. Enough to bump us over Mich for a big ten regular season title at the least

I don’t care where Miller goes...except for Michigan. If he goes there, I hope he gets a** whooped by us when we play. Even if we lose the game, I would want him shut down. Now, if he goes anywhere else, I don’t care...have a good time.

Does Miller think that he had a problem being compared to/competing with one (or more) of his OWN teammates by his OWN Coaching staff? Is that the narrative that somehow Belo (or Ayo) “stole” things away from him? How does that bode well for Miller’s competing against OPPOSING players or making it up the ladder to the next level?

Look, if the fit wasn’t right for him that’s one thing. But you can’t blame somebody else for grabbing the ball and kicking butt with it. That IS the point of the game, isn’t it? Show your stuff on the floor and live with the results. Ayo did that. Belo did that. Frazier, too, without the drama.

"Big Tim" and I went back and forth over 20 tweets, a day ago.

He's a guy whose twitter handle says is an (Illinois resident who refs HS basketball, is a Kentucky lifer and has a HS review website.)

I tried to speak respectful plain facts to him.
Adam is a likable kid who could turn out to be an 'irreplaceable' kind of player. But... currently, he was a more than serviceable shooter, eventually an asset, or at least not a liability on the defensive end, with occasional slash success, but a REMARKABLY high % of being blocked on drives. I'm talking, on his drives, probably the highest % of drives that resulted in block shots, in all my memory of 30 years of Illini basketball.

But he's a freshman. He will improve. But that if we are talking current production, his PRODUCTION was replaceable.

Maaaaaan did Big Tim not like that.

His argument is that he was misused.

My argument is that he clearly didn't watch as much IL basketball (nearly, if not every, second of it) as I did, b/c he was put in a position to create at his discretion, and could not. (not that he never will, but he was not able to yet.)

He swears he watched every second of IL basketall. (as a wildcat fan). and it became more laughable as we continued, culminating in him just repeating my tweets back to me and just switching the subject and the object. It was honestly sad and embarrassing.

Big Tim will be exposed if Adam picks LSU, b/c he started with Miller is 90% to KY.
He backed up, later, as LSU rumors (from not his 'sources') started to fly... saying that he 'only' said 90%.

Then spent an entire day trashing all Illinois fans.

He's on the lower end of IQ's, unfortunately. But... twidiots be everywhere... and here I am. :)

Get Kentucky on the schedule. That's all I know.

Not sure about any lies and/or misuse with Adam. He came in and started every game and arguably got more opportunities than a more deserving player (Curbelo) to be a lead guard. He had his shot, Belo got his. Belo was simply better.

That’s the way high level CBB works. Does he not think the same thing would or will happen at Kentucky? If TyTy calls coach Cal and Coach O and says I’m coming, are they going to tell him no?

It’s not about Hickman being scared off by anyone. It’s about UK having another schollie open and the lead recruiter on Podz being a candidate to be a new assistant coach there.

Im pretty confident that Podz choosing us over UK got the attention of some.

There is no current buzz to that effect. The talk is about Ty Ty Washington and Marcus Carr. Also, Davion Mintz could still return. They are already adding transfer Kellan Grady.
