This is where I'm at. It sucks to lose assistant coaches. But if coaching under BU means you can jump to AC at UK (Chin) or get promoted to AC at a school that previously had you in a non-coaching role (Gentry), that's a credit to BU.The "underlying issue" could be that BU has prepared them well & given them confidence...
Recruits want to jump to the NBA and play pro ball somewhere. Those are their professional aspirations. Well, ACs have professional aspirations too. If putting players in the League helps with recruiting players, then helping ACs progress their careers should help with recruiting and replacing ACs.
There have to be talented and capable ACs out there that feel like their careers have stagnated. Maybe they'll see coming to Illinois as a way out of a current rut.
