Hendricks looks like he’s completely lost it. Hayward is swinging and missing pitches in the dirt by at least a foot and a half. Ross needs to wake these guys up somehow.

I think it’s time to unload anyone of value and start over. It looked like we were in line for an epic 5-7 year stretch starting in ‘15. It flamed out really fast, players regressed, and there isn’t enough minor league talent in the system. I would be shocked if there aren’t major deals coming at the deadline.

One positive is if Bryant can keep hitting like this he should have significant value when they deal him.

If Baltimore’s return for Manny Machado is any indication of what the return for Bryant will be, that’s pretty underwhelming.

5 players - 1 top 100 prospect, 2 fringe prospects, 2 non-prospects - the three players still in Baltimore’s system from the trade less than 24 months ago are ranked 7, 9 and 23 in Baltimore’s system.

The Cubs would be far better off re-signing Bryant if possible.

Boras is his agent, we have as good a chance of signing Kris as any of the other 29 teams. Well that's not totally true, we are in the upper echelon of teams that could actually afford what he will ask for, and maybe he likes the city and his home enough to not want to move. So maybe we have as good a chance as lets say 10 other teams of signing Kris.

Edit: Also by manipulating his service time, we may have actually secured him a much more lucrative contract. So maybe he doesn't hate us too much!

The question I have is what does Ricketts want to do. Blow it up and start over or try to be competitive next season. I know this offseason was weird coming off of the Covid year but they didn't do anything to enhance their postseason chances. So does that mean that Bryant is gone for sure, or do you try to resign him and let everyone else walk and use him as the anchor to build a new team around?

Sweep! For all his faults, moments like Javy's HR in the 8th reninds me why I'd love to see him as a Cub for his career.
