I’m not sure I like either of the first two. So the ref can call either a flop or a blocking foul and one results in a personal foul and the other doesn’t? Seems to put the refs in a tough call position.The potential change to foul structure has been proposed and discussed prior.
Here's some stuff that is newer to me:
- Rules committee recommends removing the initial warning given for a flop call. Straight to a technical, awarding the other team one free throw each time, and no personal foul assessed.
- Also experimenting with fewer stoppages of play by designating any timeout as replacing the next media timeout.
- Finally, giving schools the option of adding shot clocks that include tenths of a second.
