Sweet. Born and raised in central Illinois. Great to have some homegrown roots.A lot more connect and liked than Gentry fwiw
You know the assistant to the head coach isn’t a GA position right? And Geoff has 15 years of recruiting experience.
Because central Illinois is a recruiting hotbed?Sweet. Born and raised in central Illinois. Great to have some homegrown roots.
If from Rantoul, his connections in Indiana, and his recruiting prowess, watch out.JW did steal Underwood from OK State. Not saying I'm not happy he did, but that shows he has it in him.
Are BU and Few liked? He’s just not that well liked in the industry.
John Groce is probably liked " in industry" above John Calipari....Are BU and Few liked?
I didn’t say BR would want to even coach in college. And it’s not alum related. He’s been coaching the big men going on 3 years and is currently part of the reason the Suns are having success. Part of his current responsibility is scouting and game planning for specific games. He’s on the court with the players every day scrimmaging and helping teach. He’s already developed a great reputation in the league for his talents. I wasn’t saying he should be considered I was just responding to the post that implied that it was a ridiculous idea to even mention his name. He would be more than an asset to staff. He probably would be more suited to fill Gentry’s spot because you’re correct in saying that recruiting would not be his strong suit initially. So a guy that has 2 years coaching in the NBA and no experience recruiting should be considered for an assistant coaches position at Illinois just because he's an alum? Let him learn on someone else's staff. People are bitching that Underwood isn't going to get good coaches and others are wanting him to hire inexperienced guys just because they played for the Illini. Underwood needs to hire someone that can bring in the recruits, coach big men, and get the fans off the ledge.
Lol yes they are. Few is an odd duck though. Are BU and Few liked?
Relatively?????John Groce is probably liked " in industry" above John Calipari....
Results are most important...just ask relatively unlikable Bobby Knight.
Yes it isCreighton is in the Big East. That’s not a midmajor conference.
Thanks! I just wondered since Gentry seems tight with them.Lol yes they are. Few is an odd duck though.
If you could put a list together of 3-5 names you think are the most likely to become assistants who would you put?Lol yes they are. Few is an odd duck though.

My bad, you literally posted top 3 above as I was writing. Thanks!0440 at this point can you give the likelihood of Irvin joining the staff? If he joins, would it be in a position where he'll be able to actively go out and recruit/coach in practice? Frazier's been hired for 1 AC. Sounds like Alexander for 2nd. Is it between Huss and Irvin?
I agree, that would be my list. Like all 3 and we cannot go wrong with any of them.Huss
Alexander
Richardson
No. Just cause he was a candidate or mentioned doesn’t mean he was offered the job.Did we lose out on the fsu guy?
What am I missing with Richardson? I am by no means an expert, but nothing to me seems extremely exciting about him. Doesn't seem to be a stud recruiter from what I gather. Huss seems to have done well at Creighton, pulling 4 star type players and developing well.I agree, that would be my list. Like all 3 and we cannot go wrong with any of them.
Could Irvin replace Alexander if he was interested?0440 at this point can you give the likelihood of Irvin joining the staff? Heard she has Chicago connections. We wish. No way we get Galas unless we’re willing to offer OA money.
I caveated with Bobby Knight "relatively" unlikable in the event some Knight diehards out there...I thought he was arrogant but I liked him as a straight talker. he reminds me a little of Nick Saban or a Popavich. They are not in the game to make friends or be liked...just win games.Relatively?????
Lol yes they are. Few is an odd duck though.
