So a guy that has 2 years coaching in the NBA and no experience recruiting should be considered for an assistant coaches position at Illinois just because he's an alum? Let him learn on someone else's staff. People are bitching that Underwood isn't going to get good coaches and others are wanting him to hire inexperienced guys just because they played for the Illini. Underwood needs to hire someone that can bring in the recruits, coach big men, and get the fans off the ledge.
I didn’t say BR would want to even coach in college. And it’s not alum related. He’s been coaching the big men going on 3 years and is currently part of the reason the Suns are having success. Part of his current responsibility is scouting and game planning for specific games. He’s on the court with the players every day scrimmaging and helping teach. He’s already developed a great reputation in the league for his talents. I wasn’t saying he should be considered I was just responding to the post that implied that it was a ridiculous idea to even mention his name. He would be more than an asset to staff. He probably would be more suited to fill Gentry’s spot because you’re correct in saying that recruiting would not be his strong suit initially.

I’ll take Huss over Richardson. Doesn’t exactly give you the stretch option but I wouldn’t mind Christian Bishop coming with him for the 4 spot either. Also, I doubt it’s coincidence a story on Huss is the #4 story on the 247 Illini Inquirer site right now.

0440 at this point can you give the likelihood of Irvin joining the staff? If he joins, would it be in a position where he'll be able to actively go out and recruit/coach in practice? Frazier's been hired for 1 AC. Sounds like Alexander for 2nd. Is it between Huss and Irvin?

My bad, you literally posted top 3 above as I was writing. Thanks!

I agree, that would be my list. Like all 3 and we cannot go wrong with any of them.
What am I missing with Richardson? I am by no means an expert, but nothing to me seems extremely exciting about him. Doesn't seem to be a stud recruiter from what I gather. Huss seems to have done well at Creighton, pulling 4 star type players and developing well.

Could Irvin replace Alexander if he was interested?

Relatively?????
I caveated with Bobby Knight "relatively" unlikable in the event some Knight diehards out there...I thought he was arrogant but I liked him as a straight talker. he reminds me a little of Nick Saban or a Popavich. They are not in the game to make friends or be liked...just win games.
