IMHO BU is playing this transition perfectly...

1. BU reminds our recruits that Kentucky had to purchase / import the culture & staff that BU envisioned & built ... because Cal couldn't do it on his own. (players having fun along with a tough and exciting brand of basketball)

2. BU continues to speak highly of Chin & OA after they leave. BU introduces Chester Frazier & at one point says he will be surprised if Chester isn't a head coach in 3 years. Why? BU was an assistant coach for a long time. He knows how much assistant coaches want to be affirmed and encouraged to go for it. BU is simply advertising his ability to develop coaches & his willingness to help them move up the ladder!

3. BU's non-anxious presence is reassuring to players, new recruits, and soon to be recruits... I believe this is why nobody is jumping ship.

4. I'm convinced we have the perfect coach for IL basketball, especially given the tenuous state of college basketball right now!

I really like the idea of hiring Alan Huss. Hope it comes true. Speaking of things I hope come true, I'm going to be dreaming about Tre Mitchell transferring in and Kofi coming back. Honestly think we will be a better team should that happen.

No reason to be concerned that we didn’t announce a new assistant coach the day another one was officially introduced to the media. You don’t want two positive press stories competing with each other

I will throw another name out there in OK State assistant coach Erik Pastrana.
That would be interesting since OkSU just hired an assistant from Creighton to replace Cade Cunningham's brother. Creighton better hurry up and find a seat before the music stops.

Yes. Sort of like applying to colleges. If you get into every one you applied for you did it wrong. Illinois is a great job but to think that every person offered the job is going to take it is silly. Especially if we are going for the best of the best.
Not really. I only applied to UIUC and got in. I saved money by not having to send backup applications to other schools I wasn’t interested in. Win-win.

I am happy that worked out for you and glad you aren’t in charge of the coaching search. 😉

With his ties to Underwood, I'm surprised his name hasn't been mentioned more. Then again, he may like where he is and would only consider leaving for an offer from a college in Florida.

Underwood came 4 years ago, so it isn't the same.
Maybe not exactly the same, but I doubt that fanbase is going to be focused on the 4 year gap. They still haven't fully gotten over the move JW pulled to grab BU. Grabbing Pastrana now is going to add some serious fuel to the fire.

In any case, here are the main OSU forums I can locate:
