Umm. We "stole" our head coach from another power 5 team after his FIRST year. If "stealing" assistant coaches is unethical, what is "stealing" head coaches?

Random thoughts:
1. I think its possible, and probably likely, we're waiting until the Gentry news is official to announce any new hiring(s). Maybe since they will be less-known than Frazier, they would rather announce both together (especially since one appears to be a promotion from within).
2. Not sure I believe that Irvin will actually be a part of this program. Seems like smoke, but no actual fire.
3. For all I know, most of the names being speculated could be completely made up. I know next to nothing about assistant coaches that weren't former players or aren't well-known to all.... And I highly suspect the vast majority of this board is in the same boat.
4. I haven't really been engaged much in here because frankly I don't care all that much and have nothing of substance to add. I think Underwood has established a culture and has shown success finding coaches at pretty much all of his stops, especially here. He built his original staff with guys he's never worked with, but was able to find coaches that fit the culture and can genuinely coach and develop.
5. The only way I become worried is if there are some substantial transfers out, and as of now, I don't see that happening.
I see what you did there...and I like it.

OA and Chin wanted to be here 3 years ago. I respect their aim to progress and get varied experiences. Chester will likely move on in a few years after success here too. Players will start doing the same...thats modern college bball .
You commented that coaches should only be considered if they want to be at Illinois over any other school. It seems like you are arguing against that here? If you’re waiting for “this isn’t my first choice but Illinois will do for now” at an introductory press conference, you may be waiting for awhile.

Not Illini related, but was reading article on staff Moser has put together at Oklahoma — impressive. Has an AC that has recruited Texas and one he worked with previously and was most recently with Northwestern. The big pick up though was David Patrick, associate head coach at Arkansas. Not quite in the class of OA, but has some similarities. Top recruiter at LSU and TCU that was then head coach at UC—Riverside. Unlike OA, he had some success as HC — took team that won 9 games and went 27-38 in two seasons (best 2 year stretch in school history). Stepped down to team up with Musselman at Arkansas. Also has foreign connections as he was born in Bermuda and grew up in Australia. I didn’t think much of Moser going to OK, but think he is going to do very well with this staff.

Wouldn't there have to be a job posting out there before anything can be announced

Lville did mention yesterday in the 5/11/21 Press Conference Thread that he’s hearing it’s down to 2 names. We shall find out soon enough. Patience is a virtue. Trust in the process.
Haha in college basketball I trust no one. We lost three assistant coaches.

They're announcing Chester and introducing him to the press. There's not gonna be any announcements of other hires. That would take away from Chester's time in the limelight and would be a very amateurish move.
A quick glance at the official Kentucky Athletics website shows them announcing the hiring of Coleman and Antigua in the same article, which is exactly what our DIA would have done if we had both positions filled. I honestly don't believe they're sitting on news so Frazier can have his solo skate.

I don't think that logic follows. Coleman and Antigua were hired from the same program at the same time. It would have been weird not to announce at the same time. We are hiring two (or more coaches) from different programs at different times.

I don't disagree. My response was to the original poster, who claimed that "There's not gonna be any announcements of other hires. That would take away from Chester's time in the limelight and would be a very amateurish move." If the second position had been filled, the DIA would not have sat on the news to give Frazier "time in the limelight."

Disagree. Look at the way the football staff announcements were handled. Nearly all were one at a time so each assistant got his time in the sun and the press exposure lasted for a couple weeks instead of a couple days.

If an announcement doesn't happen before, during or right after Brads press conference today consider me worried.
So now we worry? Not sure what the official cutoff for "right after Brads press conference" is, but it's now over 24 hours later.
