It might be paranoia on my part, but it looks to me like Kedric is being played here. Podz's camp knows that Kedric loves a scoop and will run to social media with literally anything they give him. So they mention to him that Podz has been offered multiple scholarships to leave Illinois since the coaching changes, but they turned them all down, and Kedric immediately tweets it out. That simultaneously communicates two things: (1) it tells Illinois fans that they are staying loyal (so far); and (2) it communicates to everyone else that they are, at a minimum, allowing people to pitch them. Seven offers is a lot. That probably means they aren't immediately shutting everyone down. And we don't know who they've turned down so far. Maybe they're waiting for very specific offers to be made and, if so, Kedric's tweet could serve almost as an invitation to other suitors to reach out.

Yeah, I see your logic here and it is a little concerning to me. At the same time, if Podz's camp leaks this, and then he decides to go elsewhere, doesn't that lead to increased scrutiny for whatever team he ends up signing with? Recruit X signed an NLI, then tells media he was getting impermissible recruiting contacts from other schools, then backed out of his NLI and signed with School Y. If I'm School Y, I'd much rather the recruit never said anything to the media! Even if School Y was not the school making impermissible contacts initially. So I wonder if leaking this info would potentially scare off other schools from contacting them? Or maybe these programs are pretty confident NCAA enforcement isn't anything to worry about?

Don't think anything would happen. CJ Fredrick to Kentucky was an open secret for several months. All he had to do to establish plausible deniability was to enter the transfer portal and wait two weeks before committing. It would be so simple for Podz to follow a similar game plan.

Again, I'm not secretly hoping Podz goes elsewhere. I'm high on his potential value and contributions to our team. If all of this ends with him suiting up for Illinois, I don't particularly care what twists and turns happened along the way. I just happen to believe this is more along the lines of a necessary cup check than jumping at shadows.

a little bit of Ayo in this guy?!
Highlights look really good to me. Aggressive to the basket, good body control, high motor.

Philosophically, I have been teetering between two recruiting approaches. Do I hope that we bring in ACs who can principally help us to retain the players, commits, and targets we already have? Or do I hope that we bring in ACs who will unlock new networks and relationships, even if it means losing some of the ground we've gained the past few years? The first approach is emotionally-driven and based in part upon a sunk cost fallacy. It sucks to give up something you felt like you already had at one point. And the first approach is probably not sustainable either. Any coaching staff constructed in that manner runs the risk of being just an inferior replica of our old staff. On the other hand, the second approach feels inherently riskier. But it's the kind of risk we probably need to take to keep this thing moving forward. A new staff brings uncertainty but also new opportunities.

Seeing some of these new offers is helping me to come around to the idea that the second approach could work out for us. Puts my mind to ease a little.

Bingo-although we now have a SLIGHTLY better shot than before now that Chin has moved on. Smart $ should still be on Michigan for this one though.
Did I miss something? Why does Chin leaving help us with AJ?

You missed something—which is understandable with how crazy this board has been for the last several weeks. AJ camp was a no-go with Chin.
Interesting. Do we know anything specific? Or is it just chalked up to "Chicago recruiting?"

Don't know if this qualifies as premium info, but Piper has a public comment on his recent article that seems to indicate that Storr is considering reclassifying to 2021 (due to early HS graduation?). Sure didn't see that one coming.

Don't know squat, but I do know there's no room at the inn as a '21. I heard he's considering that route (re-class) again, ergo, the decommit. No idea if this is BS or not. One thing's for sure though, he committed prematurely. He has myriad more options now, so that's probably a huge factor.
