Real question. Do MCBB assistant contracts typically have the same term? Do they typically end at end of the school year or is it random? I don’t really think this is the case but I’m wondering if we could have the 3rd assistant but are waiting until their contract ends or a contractual term passes in order to have to pay a buyout. Seriously doubt AC buyouts are that large and with the money being thrown around that it would hold us back, but it made me wonder about the contracts.

Someone correct me if they know more, but AFAIK historically, assistants have been in a weak position, and not had long-term or guaranteed contracts. I don't think that's where it's headed though --they've become too valuable when it comes to recruiting and winning. If you could have locked in OA for a few years, you probably would have. It's a tough decision, because in order to lock someone in, you pay a premium, and take more risk. The job is more attractive, but it's more expensive to poach talent. And if that's where the market is, well, top programs will do it. I think college football has shown that assistants are moving the market up rapidly.

More directly on your question, I don't expect there's a timing issue.

So, does Phoenix's series win mean we wait two more weeks, minimum, to find out about our new AC?

I still think Royal Ivey makes more sense than Randle. He's been an NBA assistant for a while but isn't the Nets' top guy so a move to being a top assistant for a college program wouldn't necessarily be a step-down. He's also shown he has an interest in coaching in college when he applied for the Texas job. If he's serious about being a head coach, we'd provide a good platform for him to take that next step.

Brind Randle would be coming home, so there's that. But he's only been a coach for 2 years and only 1 with Phoenix. It'd make more sense for him to take a couple of years with an up-and-coming year before making his next move.

My guess is we are looking for our top assistant. If that's the case, we're going for a guy with more experience. We'll see in a couple of weeks.

Agreed. Presumably Randle has zero high school recruiting connections at this point so would be starting from scratch. And, although he had a very successful pro career, highly doubt he has widespread name recognition to get his foot in the door with top recruits like Juwan or Penny. Randle may wind up being a great coach someday but his resume is probably a little thin to be the top recruiting assistant at a P5 school.

It's been awhile since I've checked in. Is it assumed that we have a hire in place, but we are having to wait until their NBA season ends?

Is that from the more legit insiders?

BOOM! Feed my ego.
The hire is much, much better than Randle. His name has been mentioned on this site several times.
lets go fan GIF by NBA

I think with the $18 mil tax increase to renovate the high school, Milford really envisioned itself as an Iroquois East but keeping the name. But that doesn't make a ton of sense with Watseka just 11 miles away. Iroquois County is kinda tough, its a big area but has such a small and declining population. I really only see it having 4-5 high schools in the near future.
There is no way that Watseka would ever go to Milford.

I'm sticking with my prediction: "My Pillow" Guy! (and he's been mentioned on here 3-4-5 times...by me!)
