Underwood's definition of an assistant that would blow people's minds and yours is vastly different. In the coaching world, Tim Anderson has a very good reputation.
You're right.

So you are saying that the delayed timing of things (Whitman's need to address the delay) and Underwood's superlatives (quantity of high quality of candidates) has all led up to Tim Anderson, someone with a "very good" reputation among coaches?

That just doesn't scream "mind-blowing" to me.

Brad Underwood has never said "The guy we're going to hire will blow your mind." He's the King of Coaching Hyperbole, but there's a difference between "We're taking calls from guys that would blow your mind" vs. "The guy who will be on the sidelines will be mind-blowing." Should he say these things? Maybe not. Does he believe saying these things is good for the program? Sure seems that way. He likes to talk a big game. Maybe we should just let him.

I don't think Brad makes more hyperboles than the average coach to be honest.

I'd be curious to see a list of the hyperboles he's made and the realities of it. Most of his hyperboles focus on the quality of players and I'd say he's been pretty on point with some extra fluff. But what coach out there isn't going to vouch for his guys? Definitely instills some confidence. Mark Smith is the main one he hyped up that didn't pan out in my opinion and even then, he was moreso talking about the potential.

I think at this point we should have a BATTLE ROYAL! My Pillow Guy/Iron Sheik/Bernie Sanders/Jeff Sessions/Gov. Pritzer/Lorie Lightfoot/former Gov. Bagorivitch/Rosie O'Donnial/Whoppie Goldberg/Megan McCann and Mr. Bean! Winner gets the job!
A late entry is 104 year old Loren Tate!

Anderson can currently “recruit” these players with no NCAA restrictions. Be their buddy. Put himself in a great spot if they opt out of the draft. Once he signs as an assistant somewhere, he is bound by rules. Pays to wait.
Oh, that would be something.... ! In the legal world, that might be bordering on "an appearance of impropriety", but I suppose it's OK here. Go, baby; me like.

This is gonna go way way back, but does anyone else remember when some guy connected to Brian Randle (I think his brother in law maybe?) revealed Randle was committing to Illinois before it was ever announced or leaked anywhere?

Wonder if that guy is still around?

So is it better to wait and have a coach who potentially has an NBA championship on his resume or get a guy as soon as possible?

For me mine as well wait, we've waited this long go out and win the whole thing.

I know I am not a frequent poster and have been wrong before, (heard the same things some others were hearing about that situation) but I would be absolutely shocked if it is Randle. As of two weeks ago he had not even been contacted about the job. Have a source on this one. Guessing maybe one of the other NBA guys then? Know nothing about the situation other than Randle's side of it.
