If Kofi does end up at UK I would love to be a fly on the wall the next time BU and OA see each other. BU helped him resurrect his career and gets his thanks like this?! OA has a job to do and sure there are gonna be some recruiting battles in the years to come, but I would think he could at least not immediately try to poach our best player, regardless of him and Kofi having a good relationship. All I know is that if I was BU I would feel a certain type of way about that.

IMHO... Leverage to max out his offers from UI supporters.

a. Kofi knows the areas he needs to improve in and what he needs to do to improve in those areas. Coaches are not as important as motivators... BU is a supreme motivator!

b. Kofi needed the emotional support and connection that he had with OA when he initially came to Illinois. That is no longer the case.

c. I am thinking that BU is coaching him to create this tension so that the administration has leverage with businesses to encourage them to invest.

Let's all remember one thing about these blue bloods who are gonna be coming after Kofi. They were paying players long before it was legal. How hard will it be for coach ___________ to make a phone call to a few of the big boosters to creatively make sure a player gets paid. Illinois might be one step ahead in NIL, but don't underestimate how dirty some of these blue bloods are. I hope Kofi comes back, but once he hits the open market I have little confidence he comes back. Just my opinion, I really hope I'm wrong.

The way I look at this is that this "new age" has finally hit our program, just happened to be in the same year. The Miller ordeal coming out of nowhere, now this. The floodgates have been opened for these types of occurrences and like anything else, coaches, fans, players will adjust and all will learn to play the game. None of us have any clue what the ultimate outcome will be, but even if we lose this one, we'll win the next one where another team/fan base feels the lack of loyalty due to the almighty dollar.

I think that we're going to get to the point where it will make absolutely no sense for every kid to enter the portal and be re-recruited. There's no downside to it. Next year, if you're Curbelo.....why not do this? Test the NBA waters, if you're not where you want to be, enter the portal, make some money and pick your choice of any school in the country. Why not?

This is the Pandora's box that has been opened, just as well play in the gray area, roll with the punches and get in the game.

Just as well jump fully into bed with the High School and AAU coaches and make the deals(whatever that means at this point) that need to be made to be successful. I don't even know what's legal vs what's not right now. While the NCAA has always been useless, now they're pretty much powerless.

Hearing very positive things on kofi the last couple days. We have gained significant momentum. If the meeting later this week goes well I would bet he’s back
I appreciate what you share but there is a lot out there that seems to sound like Kofi is gone. The ESPN article is just the latest. Gotta say I would be more unhappy with Kofi going to UK than OA or chin.

This just proves that now in the world of college ball, ‘recruiting a recruit’ NEVER ends. You have to recruit him to get him to join your program against all other programs. Then have to ‘recruit him’ again to stay a while in your program to not get dissatisfied. Then when the Transfer Portal opens, you have to ‘recruit’ him and scores of others who you might need to join your program when your own ‘recruit’ suddenly becomes an opposition player.

Then when that is all over, you have to ‘recruit’ YOUR RECRUITERS to stay with your program when others come calling on them so that your recruiters keep recruiting for you and not somebody else.

There will more action in the Recruiting Game than there is on the basketball floor.

What are the fast growing careers of the future? Health care, IT, and RECRUITING.

Call me a Homer but our roster is better than Kentucky's if both Kofi and Garcia come here. A lot of experience and amazing guard play.
I would say that you aren't exactly going out on a limb. If ANY P5 program added two All American caliber big men, they'd be right there with Kentucky or any other team.

It's a more equitable relationship. Long term it will be a good thing for the sport and for these athletes. Right now, in the heat of the moment as a fan watching my team's top player potentially leaving, it stinks.

My suggestion to everyone for the next couple of weeks? Put the phone down and go see the great outdoors. I hear its nice everywhere this time of year
Definitely not everywhere. Did you miss the conversation we had about Arizona weather the other day?

I want to believe our insiders that say we are in good with Kofi, but things seem to be pointing the opposite way.
